Abstract:
A weapon system includes a receiver and an operating group with a barrel extension arranged to axially translate relative to the receiver. In the firing condition, the op-rod assembly and bolt assembly are driven by the drive spring such that the round is guided into the chamber and the op-rod assembly and bolt assembly are locked to the barrel extension and a forward momentum of the op-rod assembly is imparted to the operating group and the round is fired. A portion of an impulse stops the forward momentum of the operating group. In the recoil condition, the operating group is driven rearward by the remaining portion of the impulse, the gas accelerator imparts additional rearward momentum to the op-rod assembly and bolt assembly and stops rearward momentum of the barrel and barrel extension, and the op-rod assembly and the bolt assembly are stopped by the drive spring.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A lower-receiver type feeding device for belted ammunition cartridges. A lead cartridge of the belt is separated from its lead link at a central stripping station. A rocker-type transfer mechanism sequentially moves cartridges with connected link toward the central stripping station. The transfer mechanism is driven through a cam interface with the bolt- carrier group. A sheering lip is disposed at the central stripping station to engage the lead link directly below the lead cartridge and resist stripping forces when the lead cartridge is pushed through a first outlet for chambering. A mag well post slides into a magazine well of the firearm. A bolt catch extension is pivotally carried on the right pivot shaft to remotely activate the bolt catch. An end-of-link stop is joined to the end of the ammunition belt. The end-of-link stop comprised a dummy cartridge having a longitudinally extending groove.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide modifications to the AR platform operating system such that the platform now is competent to fire large caliber cartridges, including belted cartridges, providing longer range and greater barrier penetration without substantially altering the characteristic features and component inter-relationships of this platform.
Abstract:
A weapon system is provided. The weapon system includes a receiver and an operating group. The operating group includes a barrel extension at least partially housed within the receiver and arranged to axially translate relative to the receiver; an operating rod (op-rod) assembly arranged to axially translate within the barrel extension; and a bolt assembly arranged to axially translate within the barrel extension. The system further includes a gas accelerator coupled to the barrel and the op-rod assembly; a buffer assembly including a self-centering spring and a hydraulic piston assembly having a first end coupled to the receiver and a second end coupled to the barrel extension; and a feeder coupled to the receiver and configured to provide the round to the operating group.
Abstract:
An ammunition magazine contains an ammunition belt of linked ammunition cartridges to be fed into a machine gun, the magazine including a front opening, enabling a leading end of the ammunition belt to be accessible for feeding the machine gun and for linking with a trailing end of another ammunition belt, and a rear opening, enabling a trailing end of the ammunition belt to be accessible for linking with a leading end of another ammunition belt. An arrangement of consecutive and adjacent ammunition magazines allows movement of an ammunition belt from the distal magazine into the proximal magazine towards the machine gun during operation, enabling continuous feeding of ammunition belts into the machine gun. An ammunition loading system for conveying ammunition between a magazine platform and a hull region, including a lifting mechanism to lift an ammunition magazine into the magazine platform from the hull region.
