A welding-type system includes a helmet having a first image capture device configured to capture a first set of images of a work area from a first perspective and a second image capture device configured to capture a second set of images of the work area from a second perspective. The helmet also includes an electronic display configured to display the first and second sets of images substantially simultaneously to cause a stereoscopic appearance of the work area via the electronic display. Moreover, the helmet includes an audible command translation unit configured to receive audible commands configured to adjust operation of a power supply configured to supply power for the welding-type system. Furthermore, the welding-type system includes a processing system communicatively coupled to the audible command translation unit and configured to adjust at least one parameter of the power supply based at least in part on the received audible commands.

The invention relates to a system for generating a test system with components that temporarily interconnect themselves automatically to a test system for an individual test piece (1). The test device (6) uses a mobile system (5) that is sensitive to the individual test systems, automatically links up with the individual test systems, thereby temporarily becoming a component of the respective test system. Wireless communication between all the components and the test device (6) allows for free mobility while a test piece (1) is tested and enables alternating between the test pieces (1) without problems.

A method and apparatus for controlling a welding operation are disclosed. A power source is in communication with a microphone present in an article of welding apparel such as the welding helmet of a welder. The welder provides spoken commands which instruct the power source to perform an action such as turning on a welding torch or increasing the speed of the feed of wire to the weld. This obviates the need for the welder to stop the welding operation and manually adjust the power source.

The invention relates to a device for metal welding, comprising a shielding element (1) which allows visual monitoring of the working process but protects the eyes from light radiation. The device comprises a video camera (5) which is directable towards the welding zone for recording the welding process in the form of video signals transmitted, via an image processing unit, to a video display unit (7), which the user is able to view and which is placed in or on the inside of the shielding element (1). The image processing unit reads process data from the video signals and presents the same via the video display unit.
