Abstract:
The present invention relates a peer to peer system for enabling a mobile device user to legally search and download content items by his mobile device, comprising: a user software for connecting to a peer to peer network, searching for a content item and introducing the results to the user; an identification server for receiving identification information relating to a selected right protected item from said user software; a module within said user software for, upon receipt of said meta data and price, suspending the conditional downloading, prompting the user to appropriately pay at a billing server if the item is copyright protected, and resuming the download only upon clearing said payment; and (d) billing server for receiving payment from the user, and upon completion of same, sending payment clearance to said user software, which in turn resumes downloading of the item.
Abstract:
A peer-to-peer content delivery system includes trusted auditors to report inappropriate peer behavior. This permits punishment or banishment. The trusted auditors can mimic peer behavior. The trusted auditors can be used in an existing peer-to-peer system, or in a system in which users share content anonymously via layer of inteπnediate nodes. The intermediate nodes can be inhibited from having an entirety of content they help to transfer. Vendors can leverage peer-to-peer transfer capacity and keep the same level of trust of customers as in traditional content distribution models. Infrastructure costs and end-user cost can be lowered. The intermediate nodes can be incentivized to contribute a portion of their transfer capacity, such as via electronic payments, and electronic payment transactions ma be facilitated by a bank service. Efficiency, security or reliability can be enhanced through queuing, pipelining, encryption and direct-download recovery capabilities.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for performing policy-managed, peer-to-peer service orchestration in a manner that supports the formation of self-organizing service networks that enable rich media experiences. In one embodiment, services are distributed across peer-to-peer communicating nodes, and each node provides message routing and orchestration using a message pump and workflow collator. Distributed policy management of service interfaces helps to provide trust and security, supporting commercial exchange of value. Peer-to-peer messaging and workflow collation allow services to be dynamically created from a heterogeneous set of primitive services. The shared resources are services of many different types, using different service interface bindings beyond those typically supported in a web service deployments built on UDDI, SOAP, and WSDL. In a preferred embodiment, a media services framework is provided that enables nodes to find one another, interact, exchange value, and cooperate across tiers of networks from WANs to PANs.
Abstract:
Users and devices in a peer-to-peer collaboration system can join a management domain in which members are administered as a group by a centralized management server operated by an enterprise. In response to a administrator request to join the management domain, the user downloads an injectible identity file containing a definition of the managed user/device into the user system. The user then joins the managed domain by associating the injected identity with their actual identity. Once a user or device is part of a management domain, that user or device receives license rights and policy restrictions that are associated with the domain. In return, the management server interacts with the individual peer-to-peer collaboration systems to enable the enterprise to monitor the enterprise to monitor the usage of, and control the behavior of, that specific identity within the peer-to-peer collaboration system.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for operating a control device are disclosed. In accordance with an aspect of the disclosure, a method for operating a control device may include determining that a first user equipment is in local proximity to a shared media output device, allocating, to the first user equipment, access to the shared media output device, and facilitating playback, on the shared media output device, of media content associated with the first user equipment, so long as the first user equipment is determined to be in local proximity to the shared media output device.
Abstract:
The application discloses a method, system, control device and node device for data transmission. The method includes determining a source node for data transmission; selecting a node which has not been selected for reception of the data as a destination node for the data transmission, from a list of nodes for the reception of the data, wherein the destination node serves as the next nearest node of the source node; wherein the list of nodes comprises at least one identifier and an address of each node; and issuing a data transmission task to the source node, wherein the data transmission task comprises the identifier and the address of the destination node, so that the source node transmits the data to the destination node according to the address of the destination node. The technical solutions of the application can guarantee the data transmission speed and the data transmission efficiency.
Abstract:
A license server and corresponding method are provided for managing the rights of content as it is propagates through a social network. A license server receives a distribution package from a content producer and establishes a plurality of level-licenses, one for each of n allowable levels as defined by the content producer. Level-licenses define level-rights, or access rules, based on alteration definitions and other distribution parameters provided by the content producer for each allowable level. Alteration definitions may identify degradation characteristics or augmentation files for association with the distributed digital content. Content recipients who receive encrypted copies of the distributed digital content may request a license from the license server. Upon authentication, a license and decryption key is sent to a valid content recipient to enable viewing of a form of the digital content in accordance with the level-rights predetermined by the content producer for that level of access.
Abstract:
The invention relates to content distribution over a network and provides methods of controlling the distribution, of receiving the content and of publishing content. The method of controlling distribution of content over a network includes receiving a content description and location information for a source of the content from a publisher, where the content description comprises authorisation details associated with the publisher. The validity of the authorisation details is checked and if found to be valid, the content description is provided to a node in the network.
Abstract:
There is provided a system for regulating access and managing distribution of content in a network, such as the Internet. The system includes communication gateways, installed at a subscriber site, internet control points, installed remotely, and various network elements installed throughout
Abstract:
A system and method for sharing electronic content. A sending user can specify one or more criteria that a recipient memory device must have to store the content. The sending user can also specify a digital rights management control that can be associated with the content. The content can be transferred to the recipient if the recipient memory device has the specified properties. Software at the recipient can ensure that the content is handled in accordance with the digital rights management controls specified by the sender.
