The present invention relates broadly to a method and apparatus for improving aspects of information security regarding packaged items, information delivery, and information dissemination as well as information storage. In particular, the invention relates to an apparatus and system for controllably adapting a system to an existing production line configuration so as to enable a set up, a position, a transport and a package along a stream of successive products which are bar-coded, inspected, recorded, and safety-sealed in accordance with the inventive method, wherein the present system data provides a serialized identifier incorporating a random part and a sequential part and uploads all production data to a secure database via the world wide web.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Bedrucken einer Postsendung. Die Postsendung wird dergestalt ausgerichtet, dass die Postsendung aufrecht auf einer Referenzebene steht. Anschließend wird die Postsendung in einem Transportvorgang von einer Fördereinrichtung entlang einer Bedruckstrecke transportiert. Ein oberer Bereich befindet sich oberhalb der Fördereinrichtung, ein unterer Bereich zwischen der Fördereinrichtung und der Referenzebene. Ein Drucker vermag eine Markierung auf den unteren Bereich, ein weiterer Drucker (1) eine weitere Markierung auf den oberen Bereich aufzudrucken. Die beiden Drucker drucken die beiden Markierungen auf, während die Postsendung in dem einen Transportvorgang über die Bedruckstrecke transportiert wird.

Systems and methods are provided for generating a quality report for a mailing or mailer. A mailer executes a number of jobs each job containing a different type or number of submitted mail pieces. The mail pieces of each job is sampled and analyzed to determine the quality of the mailing based on a verification type. The results of the analysis are stored in a database and a report is later generated in response to a request. The report includes information that provides for determining the quality of the submitted mailings or for assessing the quality of mail preparation conducted by the mailer.

A system and method for preparing mail pieces is disclosed. A business provides one or more designs for a mail piece to a data center, which converts the designs to a format suitable for viewing via an on-line network connection utilizing a browser. A custom Web site for the business is created and accessed by the business's employees. A defined design for a mail piece is selected, information to be included on the mail piece is provided, and a mailing list is provided to the data center. Multiple requests for mailings are combined by the data center into a single print run and arranged in a presort sequence (165) to allow for postal discounts. The aggregated mailing is printed (170), and the entire mailing is mailed by the data center.

A computer-aided billing system which directs the printing of customer invoices to include current billing information and transmittal charges for a pre-paid return envelope which the debtor will receive with the invoice for use in return of the invoice payment and which also directs collation or assembly of the pre-paid return envelope, the invoice, and the shipping envelope in which the invoice and pre-paid return envelope will be sent to the debtor. The computer-aided billing system contemplates debtor agreement to pay the transmittal charges and the possibility of future transmittal charges for electronic transmittal of invoices and invoice payments. Applications include, but are not limited to, use by banking institutions and credit card companies.
