Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
Systems and methods for selecting insert information to be included with a primary component. In some cases, the information can be advertisements or offers, and the insert information can be included with a primary component or printed on a primary component. Such primary components can be, for example, a scheduled bill or other planned mailing. In particular cases, the systems can include a multi-bay insert holder, a primary component, and an associated primary component holder. A microprocessor associated with a computer readable medium is included with instructions executable by the microprocessor to: determine the excess space associated with a primary component; identify at least one insert information compatible with the excess space that is to be associated with the primary component; and send a control signal to the insertion system. Various methods are also disclosed for associating insert information with primary components.
Abstract:
A mail processing machine to hold a stack of first pages. A card is coupled to each of the first pages. There is a second holding location (16) to hold a second pages. There is an advancing mechanism (45). A controller (11) controls the advancing mechanism (45) to permit first and second pages to be scanned by scanners (42).
Abstract:
A process for optimal economic efficiency in postal operations generally comprises the steps of conveying objects from a first repository and pre-processing a combination from among at least one of said objects based on assigned criteria, such as variable pricing methods, to derive further value from these operations. The pre-processing collects recipient-specific optimized combinations of objects and stores them as deliberables in a storage system. Such pre-processing obviated the need for set ups required under the prior art thereby reducing operational costs, including the indirect costs of equipment "down time". Pre-processing further achieves the postal discounts offered by the U.S. Postal Service thereby eliminating the need for the additional pre-sorting systems required under the prior art. Moreover, variable pricing methods are employed to optimize the economic potential of these operations.
Abstract:
An item handling system for and method of handling items in an item stream, the system comprising: a validation unit for validating an element containing an authentication code on each item in an item stream, wherein an item is assigned as being spoiled where the element does not satisfy at least one validation criterion; and a sorting unit for separating spoiled items from the item stream.
Abstract:
The present invention provides exemplary mail processing systems and methods, including systems and methods for retrieving paper sheets, statements, inserts and/or cards, and inserting same into an envelope. In one embodiment, an apparatus (200) includes a paper feeding mechanism (210) to feed sheets of paper into a collection bin (220) that is adapted to receive in a stack the sheets of paper. The apparatus includes a retrieval mechanism (230) to remove a bottom one of said sheets of paper from the stack, and a deionizer (240) that reduces static electricity in the vicinity of the stack. In this manner, the deionizer helps facilitate removal by the retrieval mechanism of only one of the sheets of paper at a time, by reducing static electricity on the sheets.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of obtaining a random sample. The method includes randomly selecting a sample of a mailing at a DMU. This sample is then analyzed for conformance with United States Postal Service standards.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a franking machine comprising an inkjet printing unit with two printing heads (301A, 301B), for printing on flat posted objects which can be inserted or run through the unit, such as letters or postcards. Said machine further comprises a guide piece (317), arranged around the print heads (301A, 301B) and projecting relative to the common jet opening plane thereof. A transport device for the posted objects is connected to said guide piece, with two drive rollers which, together with the guide piece, form a transport path and which are mounted before and after the print head, relative to the transport direction. The printing heads (301A, 301B) form a common jet opening plane and on the jet opening plane are rectangular in form, arranged at a steep angle to the direction of travel of the posted objects and mutually offset from each other.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the preparation of bundled mail for subsequent processing is provided. The apparatus includes a first flat surface (PT 1), proximate to a top end, having a downward angle with respect to a horizontal plane, and a second flat surface (PT-2), abutting the first flat surface and proximate to a bottom end, having a downward angle with respect to the horizontal plane that is greater than the first flat surface angle. A bottom corner, formed from a first supporting sidewall (Wl) and a second supporting sidewall (W2), has an opening adapted to receive a comer portion of a mail bundle.
