Table games are made more exciting with greater opportunities to risk and win money by introducing the concept of bet re-characterizations. The player places an initial wager on an event within the game, and, after learning information about an intermediate outcome of the game, the player is afforded the opportunity to change the initial wager in some manner. This change may be denoted with a token that sits on top of the initial wager. The odds on the re-characterized wager may be more or less favorable for the player.

Systems and methods for tracking RFID gaming chips at a gaming table are disclosed. Gaming chips include an outer body with center and rim portions, and a plurality of RFID tags contained within the outer body. Signals from gaming chip RFID tags can be encrypted only for readers having an appropriate private key, and can be subject to a variable time delay unique to each RFID tag. Separate RFID tags within one gaming chip can be identical for security purposes, and to increase "visibility" to associated RFID readers at the gaming table . Security breach components within RFID tags can reduce or prevent unauthorized writing or tampering attempts to an RFID gaming chip. Further system components include a gaming table and a plurality of RFID reading devices distributed thereabout, including transponders and antennae. Such RFID reading devices are disposed beneath an upper surface of the gaming table in a grid-like fashion. Tampering protection is provided for RFID chips.

L'équipement de transport de jetons porteurs d'information codée comporte une structure (10) déplaçable porteuse de jetons de jeux (24) à circuit électronique (36) rangés en colonnes (26) dans des casiers (16) empilés et une station d'accueil (28) pour la structure porteuse (10) sur le lieu de stockage des jetons, par exemple la chambre forte du casino, ou sur leur lieu d'utilisation, par exemple une table de jeu. La structure porteuse comporte une base plane (12) séparée par une cloison (13) à poignée (15) pour emporter deux piles de casiers (16) à jetons (24) et un couvercle (14). La station d'accueil (28) intègre en partie un poste de lecture (30) radiofréquence sans contact RFID de l'information codée portée par les jetons (24) d'au moins une colonne (26) pour déterminer ou vérifier le contenu d'au moins un lot de jetons présents dans la structure porteuse (10), notamment afin d'en établir ou contrôler l'inventaire. Le poste de lecture (30) comporte une unité de lecture à section numérique (52) et à section analogique (38) pourvue une antenne (32) à large boucle à trois boucles (41), (43) et (42) respectivement intégrée aux parois (18a) et (18b) du couvercle (14) et la cloison médiane (13) fixée à la base plane (1). A system for authenticating RFID-capable gaming chips in a casino. The system includes at least one security server, at least one secure network, a casino management system and a plurality of magnetic couplers distributed within the casino. The gaming chips are adapted to provide a response to a challenge issued by the magnetic couplers when the chips are located in the vicinity of the magnetic couplers. The chip is authenticated when the response matches a computed response by the server. Preferably, the authentication information is loaded into the chip prior to the chip being used in the casino. The response preferably takes the form of a one time password, so that when the password list is depleted within the chip, the chip must be re-commissioned.
