A portable alarm device includes a portable enclosure, a wireless communication system disposed in the portable enclosure and configured to receive a signal from a monitoring device. The device further includes a processor in communication with the wireless communication system and wherein the processor is configured to initiate an alert when the signal indicates that the portable enclosure is beyond a pre-determined distance from the monitoring device.
Abstract:
A system for monitoring objects and individuals. The system includes a first tracking device and a monitoring station to track location information. A user interface provides to remotely access the monitoring station. The user interface includes a graphical rendering to select a series of keystrokes. The graphical rendering prevents unauthorized recording of the series of keystrokes. A first request signal communicated obtains location coordinates of a first tracking device. The first tracking device transmits a first reply signal that comprises a first identification code. A second tracking device receives the first reply signal, compares the first identification code to a stored identification code and communicates to the monitoring station a second reply signal that comprises the location coordinates of the first tracking device.

Disclosed is a proximity sensor for determining proximity to an electromagnetic field, the sensor being arranged to: measure the strength of the field; compare the measured field strength with a predetermined threshold; and create an output signal depending on the result of said comparison. Abstract:
A system for wirelessly determining that an object is within a predetermined distance from a user is envisioned. The system is made of a transmitter, associated with the object that has a transmitting circuitry that transmits a signal independently of the location of the transmitter. The system also has a receiver associated with the user. The receiver is made up of a receiving circuitry that receives the signal, and an activation circuitry that alerts the user. A logical circuitry, communicatively coupled to the receiving circuitry and the activation circuitry, determines whether the receiver is beyond the predetermined distance from the object based on characteristics of the signal. If the receiver is determined to be beyond the predetermined distance, the activation circuitry is enabled.

La invención trata de un Sistema de Protección y Localización de teléfonos móviles y aparatos electrónicos de pequeño tamaño. Consiste en dos aparatos emisores-receptores vía ondas radioeléctricas que se instalan en el objeto a salvaguardar, fijándose una distancia de separación máxima que si se sobrepasa hará que salte la alarma o señal acústica prefijada. Uno de los aparatos es el que lleva el usuario como medida de seguridad fijado al dispositivo a proteger. El otro es el que el usuario lleva consigo como medida de seguridad y que podría consistir en un pequeño llavero. Ambos aparatos están diseñados para que cuando se alejen una distancia predeterminada el uno del otro activen en ambos señales acústicas y visuales. Asimismo, llevan sistemas que permiten activar y desactivar las alarmas así como deshabilitarlas cuando estas salten. Gracias a la presente invención es posible alertar sobre pérdidas, olvidos y hurtos.

A system and method for locating objects such as people, pets, and personal articles is described. A transceiver is attached to the person, animal, or item to be tracked and a handheld locator device is employed to transmit a locator signal containing an address code to the transceiver. Upon receipt of a signal, the transceiver compares the address code contained in the locator signal with an address code stored in the transceiver. If the two codes are same, the transceiver sends a return signal back to the locator device. The locator device uses this return signal to determine the distance and/or direction of the transceiver from the user's location. The system allows a user to select from a multiple number of items to locate and allows multiple users to search for different articles within the same general area without interference.

A motion and proximity sensitive system for monitoring spatial relationship between mobile objects comprising two way communication between a Child Unit, affixed to the child, and a Parent Unit, carried by the parent or guardian, is disclosed. When the Child Unit senses motion and determines that it is beyond a set near field proximity to the Parent Unit, the Child Unit communicates alerts to the Parent Unit allowing the parent to trigger an alarm on the Child Unit. A second alarm function selected by the mode switch sounds an alarm automatically in response to motion beyond the set near field proximity according to an adaptive alarm sequence.

A communication device (20, 21, 22, 23) including an RF transmitter (58, 153) mounted in conjunction with an IR transmitter (42, 56, 151) allowing data to be transmitted by RF as well as by IR. Such a device may be a portable badge worn by moving personnel to transmit IR and RF signals to one of a plurality of second devices each being a fixed reader having an IR and RF receiver, and typically being mounted in a respective enclosed space, such as a room. In use, IR transmissions from the portable device are detected by the IR receiver (72) of the reader (14, 15, 16) in the same room (11, 12, 13) and thus provide an immediate identification of the room (or enclosed space) wherein the portable device is located. On the other hand, if the IR transmitter in the portable device is concealed or for any other reason is not within line-of-sight of the reader in its immediate proximity, then the RF signal transmitted by the RF transmitter in the portable device is detected by the RF receiver (81) in the reader (17), thereby allowing tracking of the portable device in either eventuality.

The invention concerns the field of radio communication and more particularly an alarm device using sound waves or radio frequency waves. The invention concerns in particular a two-part alarm device for young children, adults and/or for keeping watch on valuables. The inventive device is characterised in that the transmitter part is worn by the person keeping watch and the receiver part by the other person or the object to be watched, and comprises a tracking transmitter which can be intensity-modulated according to the distance separating the bearers of the two parts or the alarm device. The invention is particularly useful for monitoring small children or old people when staying in the countryside, at the beach or in the mountains.

A system and method for reducing the risk of cellular phone loss, misplacement and/or theft; the system including a wireless transmitter (26) in a cell phone (3) for intermittently sending security signals to a device such as a pager (29) to be worn by a user. The device (29) includes an alarm (42) which is actuated when either the strength or amplitude of the security signal(s) falls below a predetermined threshold or when such security signals are not received by the device (29) for a predetermined period of time.
