A system for detecting hot car seat situations, manually cooling the child in those situations, and facilitating one or more alert notifications is disclosed. An apparatus receives sensor data that it uses to detect the presence of a child in a car seat in a vehicle. Multiple sensors provide added security against false positives. When a child is detected, the apparatus activates a cooling flow of air towards the child if the temperature rises above a threshold. The apparatus waits until the vehicle is not moving and off before initiating notifications to one or more subscribing devices. Once off, and once the temperature of the child further rises or has the air flow on for a period of time, the apparatus sends a notification to the subscribing devices. If the child is not removed within a set period of time, then emergency responders are notified.

Provided are mechanisms and processes for presenting customized learning content for an infant based on developmental age. In one example, a system includes an infant monitoring device and a monitoring hub. The infant monitoring device includes sensors that gather measurement data associated with the infant when the infant is presented with a first module of learning content. The monitoring hub receives the measurement data and analyzes the measurement data in relation to a development model obtained from a remote platform to determine whether the first module of learning content was appropriate for the infant. The measurement data is analyzed to determine a developmental age for the infant and present a second module of learning content customized to the developmental age of the infant.

Methods for monitoring a well-being of a target are disclosed. In a method embodiment, data representing a process electric potential signal is received by a computer system. The process electric potential signal may be generated at least in part by one or more electric potential sensors in response to the detection of a change in an electric field of a target spaced apart from the one or more electric potential sensors. The method may further include identifying, using the computer system and based at least in part on the data electronically received by the computer system, a recurring pattern in the received data. The method may also include determining, using the computer system and based at least in part on the received data, whether a deviation from the recurring pattern transgresses a threshold. The deviation may comprise a subset of the data electronically received by the computer system.

The second thermally insulating layer (3; 53, 58) insulates a portion of the infant (1; 51) and the first thermally insulating layer (8; 65) from the environment. A warning signal is generated if the measured temperature exceeds a threshold temperature. The threshold temperature is lower than 36 °C which is significantly lower than a body temperature of an infant that would make a warning signal desirable. A system and a sensor for use in the method according to the invention are also described.
