Abstract:
This invention relates to system for analyzing data to generate narrative content. Embodiments of the present invention use a process of mapping each element in element periodic table to a music note or music notes combination (chord), and mapping each atom in a molecule to a musical note or music notes combination (chord). Then, determining a value of each musical note or musical notes combination (chord) based upon a type of bond or interactions between atoms and/or between molecules. After that, arranging the musical notes or musical note combinations (chords) in a sequence based on the atomic or molecular structure. This invention creates a new representation format, the audible sound format which can be played through musical device, for atoms and molecules in addition to text and image formats currently in use.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for creating, modifying, interacting with and playing music are provided, particularly systems and methods employing a top-down process, where the user is provided with a musical composition that may be modified and interacted with and played and/or stored (for later play). The system preferably is provided in a handheld form factor (860), and a graphical display is provided to display status information, graphical representations of musical lanes or components which preferably vary in shape as musical parameters and the like are changed for particular instruments or musical components such as a microphone input (845) or audio samples. In addition, the present invention makes use of node-based music generation as part of a system and method to broadcast and receive music data files, which are then used to generate and play music. The present invention is characterized by the broadcast of relatively small data files that contain various parameters sufficient to describe the music to the node/subscriber music generator.
Abstract:
A method for generating accompaniment to a musical presentation, the method comprising steps of providing a note-based code representing musical information corresponding to the musical presentation, generating (13) a code sequence corresponding to new melody lines by using said note-based code as an input for a composing method, and providing (14, 15) accompaniment on the basis of the code sequence corresponding to new melody lines. Providing the note-based code representing the musical information comprises steps of receiving (11) the musical information in the form of an audio signal, and applying (12) an audio-to-notes conversion to the audio signal for generating the note-based code representing the musical information, the audio-to-notes conversion comprising the steps of estimating fundamental frequencies of the audio signal for obtaining a sequence of fundamental frequencies, and detecting note events on the basis of the sequence of fundamental frequencies for obtaining the note-based code.
Abstract:
A generative sound system has a generative audio engine which is controlled or influenced by means of messages received from a plurality of individual articles or units (71). The articles may, in a variety of embodiments include collectable cards (86), building blocks (102), articles of furniture, ornaments and so on (128, 130, 132), portable electronic devices such as mobile phones (60), and toys, models or figures (142). The individual articles or units may exchange messages with each other and/or with a base unit.
Abstract:
Method and device which provides a user with the possibility to freely improvise, or to experiment with a selection of different chords; it provides also a visual guidance to assist in the improvisation of a melody; and accompaniment music consistent with the selection of chords and of a level of dynamic range. Sound files (synthetic music, samples, chords, chord sequences, loops, tracks) consistent with a user selection of a chord and/or of a level of dynamic range are automatically selected from an audio library and played while the user is given visual cues on a user interface. An interactive virtual keyboard assists the user in selecting notes that are consistent with the chord selected for the accompaniment.

Abstract:
A method of generating a sound sequence includes representing a variety of waveforms to be combined by a plurality of sample values, and then mixing the waveforms by combining their sample values in proportions that vary during a time interval (76 to 80). At the end of any time interval when the contribution of a particular waveform to the mix is zero, that waveform may be replaced by another waveform, and the process continued.
Abstract:
A creation assisting method and apparatus, and a recorded medium, assisting a creator in readily creating a large amount of creations in a short time with a saved labor. Creation piece data each item of which is a pair of a creation piece and a piece index is stored in a database (4). The piece indexes are extracted from the database (4) and put in a reactor (9), making a set of piece indexes in correlation. Creation pieces corresponding to the piece indexes constituting the set are connected and outputted to automatically produce a creation. In each piece index, 5W1H information about the content of the corresponding creation piece and sensibility information about the sense given by the creation piece are described. The correlation is determined based on the described information, and a creation is produced which cannot be produced only by randomly connecting creation pieces.
Abstract:
A music composition system for composing music segments comprises: a computer interface comprising at least one external input for receiving from an external device a request for a musical composition; a controller configured to determine based on a request received at the external input a plurality of musical parts for the musical composition; and a composition engine configured to generate, for each of the determined musical parts, at least one musical segment in digital musical notation format, the musical segments configured to cooperate musically when performed simultaneously. The computer interface comprises at least one external output configured to output a response to the request, the request comprising or indicating each of the musical segments in digital musical notation format for rendering into audio data at the external device.
