Abstract:
At least one electronic signal is converted into at least one electromagnetic field, where the electronic signal may be created or modulated by environmental, interactive, and programmed inputs. The at least one electromagnetic field vibrates a ferromagnetic element creating an acoustic sound and optionally a transducer converts the vibration into an electronic signal for processing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a musical instrument playing room system which enables a user to easily play a musical instrument to the accompaniment of music, and to a method for operating the system. A musical instrument playing room system and a method for operating the system according to the present invention comprise: at least one musical instrument to play; and a musical instrument playing room control device for controlling the sound provided from each musical instrument such that the sound can be acoustically output. The musical instrument is configured to display and output, in a form of musical note, musical note information provided from the musical instrument playing room control device, convert musical instrument playing information input by a user to a MIDI signal and provide the MIDI signal to the musical instrument playing room control device. The musical instrument playing room control device is configured to provide musical note information for each musical instrument corresponding to the music selected by the user to the relevant musical instrument, and acoustically output sound in a MIDI signal form input from each musical instrument together with the sound of music accompaniment.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, an electronic cymbal system includes a first pickup configured to generate an electrical signal representative of vibrations in a first cymbal, and a controller configured to receive the first electrical signal and to process the first electrical signal to generate an output. The controller includes a digital signal processor (DSP) configured to subject a version of the first electrical signal to a digital signal processing technique. The digital signal processing technique includes one or more of dynamic range compression, expansion, frequency equalization, harmonic excitation, comb filtering, and pitch shifting. The cymbals may be any of variety of known cymbals, such as hi-hat, crash and ride cymbals, and may be of the perforated type configured to reduce noise for indoor use. Lighting control may be provided to illuminate the cymbal for functional or aesthetic purposes.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Musical instruments are described including a first portion designed to be operated by one hand of a player and a second portion designed to be operated by the other hand. The two portions include means within each for sensing hand and/or finger activity, position or movement, and one of the portions is adapted to produce an output signal corresponding to the music being played by the user. The two portions may be physically connected together or they may be separate, each including its own power supply to enable it to operate, and for the two portions to communicate with one another. The invention is of particular value in the construction of practice instruments which do not need to include a sound box, and can thus be very compact, especially if the two parts, such as a fingerboard (20) and a body (82) with strings (83) mounted on it are connected by a telescopic neck (60A).
Abstract:
A system and method for playing a multi-player music video game with a drum system video game controller is provided. In one embodiment, the invention relates to a method for providing a drum solo with a music based multi-player video game. In another embodiment, the invention relates to a system for providing analog input from one or more drum sensors used in game play associated with a music based multi-player video game. In yet another embodiment, the invention relates to a method for preventing interference between the one or more drum sensors. In one embodiment, the invention relates to a method for mapping digital information indicative of input to a video game controller in a first form to information in a second form, the second form conforming to a protocol for inputs to a video game console executing a music based multi-player video game.
Abstract:
Input device of computer using touch switch. Electronic signal flows between touching conducting pads. The microcontroller in main portion detects the said electronic signal and recognizes which pads are touched to generate the input signal. The pad portion may further contain acceleration sensor and in this case the microcontroller recognizes the touching impact strength of pad by analyzing the output of acceleration sensor to generate input signal. The input signal of touching pad and the touching impact strength generated by microcontroller can be transmitted to outer system like PC by communication portion in main portion.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for characterizing in accordance with at least a descriptor, the timbre of a time-variable sound signal (s(t) for a duration D, which consists in defining said descriptor by the harmonic spectral scope of the signal.
Abstract:
An impact sound from a first original sound generating unit (100) so disposed as to correspond to each part of a natural drum set is received by a microphone such as a pickup microphone, and a sound adjusting unit (26) adjusts the sound quality of electric analog signals from the microphone accompanied by no digital conversion. A reproduction is made by a reproduction unit (34) on the basis of output signals from the sound adjusting unit (26). None of operations such as a digital conversion, a signal transmission through a photo coupler, and selection and reproduction of sounds recorded in advance is performed. The time lag from the impacting action to the generation of played sound is not sensed, and therefore the impact sound generated when the first original sound generating unit (100) is hit is used as the original sound to achieve the reproduction accompanying the delicate impacting skill of the player, too.
Abstract:
A method for generating a musical tone, such as a ringing tone, the method comprising inputting (1, 2) a musical seed, and providing (3, 4) the musical tone on the basis of the musical seed. If the musical seed is in the form of a note-based code, the musical tone is generated (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) on the basis of said note-based code. If the musical seed is in the form of an audio signal, an audio-to-notes conversion is applied (3) to the audio signal for generating a note-based code representing the musical seed, and the musical tone is generated (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) on the basis of said note-based code.
