Abstract:
A method for writing information in a DVD+R disc (32) comprises the steps of: defining a first start address (A) for a first storage portion (12); defining a second start address (B) for a second storage portion (13); writing information into the first storage portion up to a first end address (C); defining a first dummy data end address (X) higher than the first end address (C); defining a second dummy data end address (Y) lower than the second start address (B) yet higher than the first dummy data end address (X); writing dummy data in the first storage portion (12) from the first end address (C) up to the first dummy data end address (X) and from the second dummy data end address (Y) up to the second start address (B).
Abstract:
A device for storing data and data structures on a storage medium has been proposed. The data structures comprise file and directory entries pointing to the data in accordance with rules of different file systems. The device comprises writing means (21, 22, 25) for storing the data and the data structures, and controlling means (20) for generating the data structures. The controlling means (20) are adapted to selectively mirror file and directory entries between the data structures. Thus, a storage medium is obtained that is sharable by different environments with file systems having different views of the data on the storage medium.
Abstract:
A multimedia optical disk for which a title producer coordinates a viewing/listening mode including a special reproduction at will. The optical disk has an object recording area which is divided into a plurality of sub-areas and a block is recorded in each sub-area. Each block contains one or more moving picture data and management information. The management information of each block only is effective for a reproducing device in the time zone defined in units of seconds in which the moving picture data belonging to the same block are reproduced and contains user operation limiting information representing whether or not user operation is limited in the effective time zone.

Abstract:
An information recording medium comprises a user area, and a spare area including a replacement area, wherein the replacement area may be used instead of a defective area in the user area. The user area and the spare area include a plurality of sectors. Each of the plurality of sectors includes a user data area for recording user data, and an attribute data area for recording defect replacement allowance attribute data. The defect replacement allowance attribute data indicates whether recording of the user data has been executed in a state that the execution of a defect replacement process is allowed. In the defect replacement process, the defective area in the user area is replaced with the replacement area in the spare area.
Abstract:
An integrated address is given to a multilayer information storage medium so as to facilitate the handling of information. That is, a whole address integrating a multilayer information layer can be set. In an information reproduction layer, information representing the conditions of the setting of the integrated address, for example, the contents of a disc ID zone of a rewritable zone of a read-in area is recorded.
