Abstract:
The present invention concerns a pair of contact or capacitive HF couplers for drill stem components. Each of the first and second couplers comprises a central conductor (52), a supplemental conductor (53) and an annular dielectric means (54). The dielectric means is disposed between said conductors. Said conductors are isolated from each other. The supplemental conductor comprises two electrical contact surfaces (56, 57). The central conductor comprises an electrical contact surface or electrode. The central conductors of the first and second couplers interact electrically in the coupled state. The supplemental conductors of the first and second couplers are in electrical contact in the coupled state. The supplemental conductors surround the central conductors. In the mounted state, the supplemental conductors form a shielding for the central conductors.
Abstract:
An adapter for connecting a 600 ampere deadbreak bushing to a pull-on and pull-off deadbreak elbow used for normally non-current carrying applications. The adapter comprises a two part separable assembly having first and second ends. The first end is threaded to mate with a threaded opening in the deadbreak bushing and the second end is threaded to mate with a threaded opening in a lug of the deadbreak elbow. The two part separable assembly is coupled together with the first part of the assembly that is screwed into the deadbreak bushing and has a groove that snaps (latches) into a corresponding latching ring in a molded insert of the deadbreak elbow that surrounds the second part of the assembly screwed into the lug inside of the deadbreak elbow. Other latching mechanisms may be used to mechanically and electrically couple together the first and second parts of the adapter assembly.
Abstract:
An electrical connector includes a crimpable tubular body including a receiving portion for receiving a wire conductor via an opening at a longitudinal end of the tubular body. The tubular body provides a permanent electrical connection to the wire conductor only upon at least a portion of the tubular body being crimped. The receiving portion has a tapered shape and inward projections for engaging the wire conductor to provide sufficient frictional force to resist removal of the wire conductor from the receiving portion prior to crimping, without providing a permanent electrical connection between the tubular body and the wire conductor. In one implementation, the electrical connector is a butt connector with two such equally sized receiving portions for splicing together two wires. In another implementation, the electrical connector is a butt connector with two different sized receiving portions for splicing together two differently sized wires.
Abstract:
An electrical connector forms electrical contact by tightening of a movable, electrically-conductive spiral around un-insulated wire or wires. The spiral coils around the wire multiple times and tightens on the wire(s) when either one or the other end, or both ends, of the spiral is/are rotated relative to the other. One region of the spiral is preferably fixed to an insulating housing, while another region of the spiral may be rotated for the tightening on the wire and then preferably latched to the housing so that \the spiral remains in the tightened condition. A terminal end may extend from the spiral, or connectors without a terminal end may be used to electrically connect wires to each other that extend from and to other equipment not located on the connector itself. Multiple spirals may be provided in one connector, including spirals that tighten around separate wires at opposite ends of the connector. The connectors may be tightened quickly by hand, without tools, as one hand may grasp the housing or a housing portion, while the terminal end or another housing portion fixed to an end of the spiral (and consequently the spiral coils along with it) is twisted by the other hand.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a ground rod used for electric installations to prevent accidental electric shock or damage and malfunction of electronic devices. The ground rod can achieve not only reduction of noise and vibration relating to grounding construction but also reduction of construction costs relating to installation of the ground rod in the ground or base rock.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An electrical cable assembly with hermaphroditic coupling with a high current rating, is disclosed. The electrical cable assembly with hermaphroditic coupling includes a pin contact terminal in a first coupling sleeve and a hyperboloid socket terminal in a second coupling sleeve. The pin contact terminal may be inserted within the second coupling sleeve, and the hyperboloid socket terminal may be inserted within the first coupling sleeve. The socket contact may include a RADSOK® socket. The first and second coupling sleeves are coupled together by urging the pin contact terminal into the hyperboloid socket terminal and rotating.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an electrical contact pin (33), in particular for a plug connector (1), comprising at least one outer thread (37) for fastening the electrical contact pin (33) to the plug connector (1). The invention further relates to a plug connector (1) for establishing an electrical connection with a mating plug connector (9), comprising an insulating sheath (5) and a contact member (21) at least partially received in a sheath receptacle (17) of the insulating sheath (5). Electrical contact pins (33) and plug connectors (1) are known in the art, wherein the electrical contact pin (33) may get stuck or even damaged during assembly. The inventive electrical contact pin overcomes this disadvantage by at least one centering element (39) with a tapered section (41) for centering and/or positioning of the electrical contact pin (33), which centering element (39) extends from one end (43) of the electrical contact pin (33). The inventive plug connector (1) comprises the inventive electrical contact pin (33).
