Abstract:
Abstract:
A wire stripper (10) has a pair of elongated frames (12, 14) pivotably joined together by a pivot pin (16, 18) and defining handles (40) and jaws (42). The handles (40) are covered by sleeves (20, 22) which include thumb wells (64) which cover the ends of the pivot pin (16, 18). A mechanical interlock (30) is provided between the handles (40) and the sleeves (20, 22). The sleeves (20, 22) have offset slots (78) for receiving the handles (40). A spring (28) biases the frames (12, 14) to an open position.
Abstract:
Device for twisting together end areas (11) of a number of wires (12), the device comprising a rotatable twister module (3) which includes an axial cavity (9) for receiving, the wire areas to be twisted together, wherein the cavity includes an operational area which is provided with one eccentric twister cam (13) extending from the bottom side over a fraction of the axial length of the operational area and having transverse dimensions allowing the end parts (14) of all of the wire areas (11) to be twisted together. Preferably, the device includes, additionally, a stripper module (2), arranged for stripping the end areas (11) of wires surrounded by a cover or coating layer over a. predetermined stripping length before subsequently twisting those stripped wire areas by inserting them into the twister module (3) and rotating it around its axis.
Abstract:
Tool which will simultaneously cut an electrical wire and strip the predetermined length of insulation from the conductor. It comprises a pair of pivotally connected planar arm members (4, 6) in which the portion of the arms on one side of the pivot serve as operating handles. That part of the arms (4, 6) on the other side of the pivot has a pair of upturned, transversely operating wire-severing jaws (18, 20) which are oriented substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the tool and normal to the plane of the arm (4, 6). Anterior to these jaws is a pair of upturned insulation stripping members (22, 24) which are oriented parallel to the cutting portions of the severing jaws (18, 20). These have cooperating opposed notches (25, 27) for cutting through the wire insulation. An adjustable stop (34) mounted on the handle portion controls the depth of cut. In use, it is only necessary to place the end of a wire in the tool, squeeze the handles, and give a slight twist and axial pull to remove the insulation. A consistent length of insulation is removed from the end of the wire at each use of the tool.
Abstract:
A combined tool in which a wire coating stripper is combined with a tool such as nippers, cutting pliers, etc. A plurality of circular cutting edges (5) of different sizes for stripping a wire coating are formed in the tool body (1) between the coupling pivot (2) at one end and the handgrips (3) at the other. Since the wire stripping function for a variety of wires is added to the nipper and cutting plier tool functions, the tool can be used mainly for electrical work such as the installation of various types of wires.
Abstract:
An insulation stripping tool can be used to precisely remove a section of insulation located away from the edges of an insulated wire. The insulation stripping tool includes two transverse cutting elements which can be spaced a predefined and precise distance apart, and upper and lower longitudinally-extending cutting elements extending between the transverse cutting elements. Hinged lever arms can be gripped to move the cutting elements towards one another and cut into the insulation sheathing an insulated wire. A depth guide may be included to control the depth of the insulation cut to minimize or avoid scoring or otherwise affecting the conductive core of the insulated wire.
Abstract:
A device to strip the external coating layer off of a coated optical fiber is provided. The optical fiber coating removal device includes a one piece molded body having a first body portion connected to a second body portion by a flexible region and a blade secured in one of the first body portion and the second body portion wherein the blade includes a U-shaped slot having cutting edges on the inside of the slot, wherein the flexible portion allows the first and second body portions to move between an open state and a closed state for stripping an optical fiber.
Abstract:
A seal trimmer comprising a support member having a first end a second end, and a guide portion variably disposed within the support member is provided. An apparatus comprising an inner sleeve portion, an outer sleeve portion, and at least one finger moveably disposed between the inner sleeve portion and the outer sleeve portion, the at least one finger configured to determine a length of a port seal is also provided. Furthermore, a method of sizing and cutting a port seal to fit onto a port, comprising the steps of providing a support member having an inner sleeve portion and an outer sleeve portion defining a cavity therebetween, and a length guide portion variably disposed within the cavity of the support member, inserting the port seal into the cavity, and cutting an exposed portion of the port seal is also provided.
Abstract:
An electrical connector (e.g. a plug) incorporates a wire stripper for removing a length of the insulation surrounding an end of the conducting core of a wire (20). The stripper includes a recess (10) to receive the end of the wire (20) and a blade (15) movable (in direction A) along a slot (14) to sever the insulation within the recess and hold the insulation within the recess when the wire is pulled (in direction B) out of the recess.
