Various communication systems may benefit from the appropriate handling of transitioning between connections. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from appropriate handling of further access attempts in a conditional handover scenario. A method can include receiving, at a user equipment, an access configuration information element configured to describe a user equipment behavior during an access phase of a conditional handover. The method can also include, upon detecting a failed access to the target for which the access condition has triggered, attempting to access a candidate cell among suitable candidate cells that have been previously configured for conditional handover.

The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5 th -Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4 th -Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. The present disclosure provides a random access method, a network node and a user equipment. With the solution of the above embodiment of the present disclosure, the performance of the UE randomly accessing the target cell can be improved.

Devices, methods, user equipment (UE), base stations, storage media, and other embodiments are provided for a dynamic random access channel (RACH). In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a memory configured to store a configuration communication from a base station, the configuration communication comprising a dynamic dedicated random access channel (RACH) configuration (RACH-ConfigDedicated) information element, the RACH-ConfigDedicated information element comprising a plurality of dedicated random access parameters. Processing circuitry coupled to the memory is then configured to decode the configuration communication from the base station to identify the plurality of dedicated random access parameters and set up a RACH procedure for connection to the base station using the plurality of dedicated random access parameters. In various embodiments, different communications may be used for the dedicated random access parameters which are used in the RACH procedure.

According to certain embodiments, a method (300) by a source network node (115) is provided for providing mobility support for enhanced coverage of wireless devices (110) in handover to a target network node (115). The method includes obtaining, from the target network node (115), an indication of at least one resource to be used by the wireless device (110) in handover from the source network node (115) to the target network node (115). The indication of the at least one resource is transmitted to the wireless device (110) for use in handover from the source network node (115) to the target network node (115).

Aspects and embodiments provide methods of handing over a communication link between a cell and user equipment in a wireless communication network from a source cell to a target cell. One method comprises: receiving a handover command message comprising an indication of a plurality of handover instances at which the user equipment is to attempt establishment of a communication link with the target cell; attempting establishment of a communication link with the target cell at a handover instance and monitoring for receipt of an indication that a communication link with the target cell has been established; and maintaining a communication link with the source cell through the plurality of handover instances, until the indication that the communication link with the target cell is established is received. Aspects further provide network nodes and computer program products configured to perform such methods. Aspects and embodiments may provide a method for enhanced handover. The methods described may reduce user plane interruption time and may re-use legacy procedure and signalling without need for use of a specific "handover activation timer".

The invention relates to a method for establishing a connection between a user equipment and a base station of a radio network, wherein connection parameters used to establish a first connection between the user equipment and the base station being stored in a memory of the user equipment and in a memory of the base station prior to the releasing of the first connection, the method comprises the following steps of : - comparing the stored connection parameters with connection parameters to be used to establish a second connection between the user equipment and the base station, - generating a connection establishment request comprising the connection parameters to be used for establishing the second connection that differ from the stored connection parameters, - transmitting the connection establishment request to the base station.
