Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to communication systems, and more particularly, to random access channel (RACH) procedures in deployments where a RACH transmission may be sent on different UL carriers. An exemplary method performed by a base station includes receiving a random access (RA) preamble on a first component carrier (CC) of a plurality of CCs including at least one uplink (UL) CC and at least one supplemental uplink (SUL) CC and transmitting a response to the RA preamble, wherein the response indicates the first CC.
Abstract:
A system and method for random access measurement indications are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method performed by a first communication node includes: obtaining measurement results from a plurality of signals; determining a matching measurement result of the measurement results that corresponds to a matching signal of the plurality of signals, wherein the matching measurement result best matches with a criteria; selecting determining random access channel (RACH) resources based on the matching signal; sending a first message using the RACH resources; and receiving a second message based on the matching signal.
Abstract:

Abstract:
In a wireless communication network that implements the RRC Resume procedure, an eNB (11) sends to a radio network device (30), which was previously connected and has been given a Resume ID, a paging message or Random Access Response message including an RRC Resume directive. The RRC Resume directive comprises at least an indication whether or not the radio network device (30) should perform an RRC Resume procedure. If the RRC Resume directive indicates the radio network device (30) should not perform an RRC Resume procedure, the radio network device (30) performs an RRC Connection procedure. If the RRC Resume directive indicates the radio network device (30) should perform an RRC Resume procedure, it may include additional information to optimize or otherwise assist the RRC Resume procedure. In this manner, RRC Resume signaling is avoided when the eNB (11) knows that it will not be successful, such as if a prior RRC connection context is not available or readily retrievable, or is invalid.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus may determine a plurality of access points. The plurality of access points belong to a cluster set of a user device. The method may also include allocating a plurality of uplink access channels to the plurality of access points. The plurality of uplink access channels may include uplink polling channels. The plurality of uplink access channels are allocated such that the plurality of access channels are staggered in time within a frame structure used by the plurality of access points and the user device.
Abstract:
A method of managing an access attempt for accessing a cellular network (82) is described. The method is performed by a communication device (40) and comprises sending (84), to a radio network node (60) of the cellular network (82), an access request message for requesting access to the cellular network (82), and receiving (88), from the radio network node (60), an access response message for the access request message. The access response message comprises a wait indication indicating to wait for a resumption indication before resuming the access attempt. The resumption indication indicates to resume the access attempt, and the method also comprises, in response to the received wait indication, waiting (90) to resume the access attempt. The communication device (40) is in an idle mode and the access response message is received after a random access response message. Alternatively, the communication device (40) is in a connected mode and the resumption indication is received via a physical downlink control channel. Therefore load control of load associated with the access attempt of the communication device (40) may be accomplished in a fast, easy and flexible way.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for detecting a number of user terminals (8a, 8b), each of said user terminals (8a, 8b) comprising a receiver unit (10), a transmitter unit (11) and a control unit (12) arranged to control said receiver unit (10) and transmitter unit (11), each of said user terminals (8a, 8b) also being associated with a wireless communication network (1) comprising a plurality of network cells (2, 3), each being equipped with a node (4, 5). The method comprises detecting (16) communication between each of said user terminals (8a, 8b) and an associated node (4; 5) of said wireless communication network (1). Furthermore, the method comprises: detecting (17) a first control message being transmitted from a user terminal (8a, 8b); detecting (18) a second control message being transmitted from a node (4; 5), said second control message being associated with the first control message; and increasing (19) a counter (15a) representing said number of user terminals (8a, 8b) based on detection of transmission of said control messages. The present invention also relates to a detector device (9) for detecting a number of user terminals (8a, 8b).
