摘要: An apparatus for blocking a medium flow passage in a spray head, said apparatus comprising a blocking element (1), such as a burst disk, arranged in the passage and, when unbroken, blocking the passage of medium flow from a first side of the blocking element to a second side of the blocking element, on the first side of which blocking element a first pressure (p1) prevails in the passage (2) while on the second side a second pressure (p2) prevails in the passage (3), said blocking element (1) being arranged to be ruptured so that a medium flow passage is formed through the blocking element when the pressure difference between the first and the second sides of the blocking element reaches a preset value. The apparatus comprises a supporting element (4) provided at least on that side of the blocking element where the pressure of the medium is lower at least just before the instant of rupture of the blocking element, which supporting element can be moved between at least two positions, a first position where the supporting element supports the blocking element (1) so that the blocking element cannot be ruptured even if the pressure difference in the passage between the first and the second sides of the blocking element is greater than the preset value, and a second position where the supporting element does not support the blocking element.

摘要: A system for at least partially decontaminating personnel in response to detection of an agent harmful to human life such as a chemical or biological agent. The system can provide a sprinkler head above a walkway such as a hallway through which personnel are expected to walk. The sprinkler provides a spray of water over personnel passing underneath, removing at least some of the harmful agent and reducing the transport of the agent from one area to another. Preferably, the system includes a sprinkler or shower head coupled to an existing fire control sprinkler supply pipe, wherein the sprinkler head may include a valve that is remotely controlled and can be opened in response to detection of a chemical or biological agent.

摘要: An activation rupture disc unit is provided that is capable of withstanding a substantially higher back pressure than its burst activation pressure. The unit includes a tubular housing having a fluid passage. Tapered wall structure defines at least a portion of the passage with the fluid outlet thereof being of greater area than the fluid inlet. A rupture disc is carried by the housing and has a central bulged section in fluid-blocking relationship to the passage. A tapered, self-releasing solid plug is positioned in and conforms to the tapered portion of the passage. The plug has a curved surface conforming to and positioned in full supporting relationship to the central section of the rupture disc. The plug is of sufficient mass to prevent rupture of the central section of the disc under a back pressure substantially greater than the activation pressure of the disc.

摘要: An automatically operating shut-off valve has a valve body (12) with a weakened zone (15) about which the body will break, in the event the valve is subjected to a shock load. A valve seat (25) is formed within the body (12) and a valve member (29) is pivoted to move between an open position and a closed position, against the valve seat. The valve member is spring-urged to its closed position but is held in its open position by a crank (34) having a pin (35) bearing on a brittle glass rod (33). The valve will close whenever the rod (33) breaks, even if the shock load is only sufficient to crack the valve body, about the weakened zone.

摘要: An isolation valve system comprises a main body (32), an actuator body (34) and a sealing membrane (307). The sealing membrane (307) is arranged at a high pressure portion (36) of the isolation valve system. The sealing membrane (307) mechanically attaches the actuator body (34) to the main body (32). The sealing membrane (307) further seals the high pressure portion (36) from a low pressure portion (38). A burst plug (315) is arranged against the main body (32) and supports the actuator body (34). An activation arrangement (50) is arranged for allowing an at least partial displacement of the burst plug (315), typically causing a phase transition. The sealing membrane (307) is dimensioned to break when the actuator body (34) is moved due to the displacement of the burst plug (315). The isolation valve system comprises preferably a stack (30) of substrates (301- 304) being bonded together. The substrates (301-304) have micromechanical structures, which form at least the actuator body (34) and the sealing membrane (307).

摘要: A relief device for a high pressure gas container comprises a main body (100) having a primary bore (104). The main body (100) has a secondary bore (106) in fluid communication with the primary bore (104). A spud assembly (200) is seated in the secondary bore (106) and includes a rupture disc (212) that relieves the container contents when the pressure within the container reaches a certain pressure. The spud assembly (200) and rupture disc (212) are located within the outer circumference of the main body (100). A plug (220) retains a shear ring (122) against the rupture disc (212) and when the rupture disc (212) expands, the shear ring (122) ruptures the rupture disc (212) and relieves container contents to atmosphere. The plug (200) may include a fuse metal (117).
