摘要: The inventive subject matter is directed to an assembly of a plurality of baffle constructs which each include: a primary baffle, comprising a pliable textile, and a secondary baffle. The baffle constructs are configured to be alignable along a vertical axis relative to the ground. Each primary baffle defines a bounded, volumetric space for enclosing a first volume of insulative fill material and a secondary baffle. Each secondary baffle defines a bounded, volumetric space for enclosing a second volume of fill material. One or more of the secondary baffle are disposed in the primary baffle so that most of the second volume of insulative fill material is contained above most of the first insulative material when the primary baffle is maintained in an intended vertical orientation. The secondary baffles are mainly responsible for filling the primary baffle to its intended shape in an upper portion of the primary baffle.

摘要: A puffer jacket (10, 10a'-10c') configured to provide improved temperature regulation through graduated venting. In one embodiment, the jacket includes a back panel (20, 20') with baffles (18a, 18a', 18b, 18b') and insulation (16) arranged to provide reduced insulation and increased venting of heat and humidity toward the center of the back. The back panel may include an alternating arrangement of insulation baffles (18a, 18a') (containing insulation) and vent baffles (18b, 18b') (free of insulation). The insulation baffles and vent baffles may be formed by joining inner (12) and outer (14) layers of fabric with laterally extending lines of stitching (22, 22'). The lines of stitching may follow paths selected to progressively change the relative size of the vent baffles and the insulation baffles toward the center of the back. For example, the lines of stitching may give the insulation baffles a somewhat hourglass shape shortening toward the center of the back resulting in increasingly greater venting of heat and humidity toward the center of the back.

摘要: A warming cell pattern is provided that may be arranged on an interior portion of a garment or other outdoor equipment to improve the warming qualities of the garment or equipment. The warming cells may take on a number of shapes, sizes, and patterns, but they are preferably cube-shaped and arranged in a "running-bond" or offset brick-like pattern so that vertical and horizontal channels are formed between adjacent cells. When the garment is worn or the equipment is used, an air-filled space may be formed by the channels and the user's body. Because air is a strong insulator, the air-filled pockets retain heat so that the jacket or garment including the warming cell pattern will have improved warming properties.

摘要: A nonwoven product includes a plurality of waterfowl fibers or detached barbs obtained from waterfowl plumage, where the waterfowl fibers or detached barbs are present in an amount of at least about 20% by weight of the nonwoven product. The nonwoven product can further include synthetic fibers and/or a binder material. The nonwoven web can be provided (e.g., as an insulation material) in a product such as an article of apparel.

摘要: Aspects herein are directed to garments that incorporate adaptive stand-off structures in the form of fluid-filled bladders that transition from a first shape to a second shape when exposed to moisture in the form of, for example, perspiration. When the fluid-filled bladders are in the first shape, the fluid-filled bladders are generally planar with a surface plane of a textile layer forming the garment so that the garment comes into contact or near contact with the wearer's body surface. When the fluid-filled bladders are in the second shape, they extend in a z-direction away from the surface plane of the textile layer forming the garment such that the textile layer is spaced apart from the wearer's body surface by the stand-off structures to reduce cling and facilitate the evaporation of perspiration.
