Abstract: A shoe sole consists of a wooden upper part (1) and a sole surface (7) beneath it. In the region of the ball of the foot the upper sole section (1) is divided to provide several narrow strips (3) running across the length of the sole which are joined together and to the front and rear parts of the sole (4, 5) by flexible inserts (6).
