Abstract: The devices and methods described herein provide improved methods for accurately identifying and locating the visual axis of the eye and its intersection with the iris plane. In one embodiment, a visual axis identification system includes a fixation light source, a camera, and a processing system. During operation thereof, the patient focuses their gaze onto two or more fixation light spots provided by the fixation light source upon an optical axis thereof, which creates two or more corresponding images on or near to the patient's retina. The patient's head is then rotated relative while the patient continuously maintains their gaze on the fixation light spots. The patient's visual axis may be located by determining the location of the optical axis of the fixation light source relative to the patient's eye when the centers of the multiple images coincide in the patient's view.

Abstract: A system includes a controller with at least one processor and at least one non-transitory, tangible memory on which instructions are recorded for executing a method for obtaining a profile of a lens capsule of an eye. The profile is represented by respective central surfaces and respective equatorial surfaces separated at respective transition points. The controller is configured to obtain imaging data for a portion of the lens capsule visible through a pupil of the eye. The imaging data is transformed to an adjusted frame of reference and fitted to the respective central surfaces in a predefined central region of the lens capsule. The profile is obtained based on a set of fitting parameters for the respective central and equatorial surfaces. The respective central surfaces and respective equatorial surfaces may be represented as elliptical cones and skewed parabolas, respectively.

Abstract: A system (1000) includes: a first movable stage (1088) which is movable with respect to an eye (101) of a subject; a second movable stage (1089) mounted on the first movable stage (1088), wherein the second movable stage (1089) is movable with respect to the first movable stage (1088); a fixation target (1082) disposed on the second movable stage (1089); and an optical system (1083, 1084, 1085, 3080 ) disposed in an optical path between the fixation target (1082) and the eye (101), wherein the optical system (1083, 1084, 1085, 3080 ) is configured for projecting the fixation target (1082) upon the eye to accommodate the eye. The optical system includes a Stokes cell (3080) in the optical path between the fixation target (1082) and the eye (101). The optical system non-telecentrically projects the fixation target (1082) upon the eye (101).
