Abstract: An improved system and methods for treatment of cancer and other diseases including complications from late-stage viral infections by inducing hyperthermia in a patient relying on withdrawing blood from the patient and returning the withdrawn blood to the patient to establish an extracorporeal flow circuit. Blood is heated by passing through the extracorporeal circuit at a controlled rate until a target body core temperature in is achieved. Usually, the blood will be subjected to a continuously re-circulating dialysis to balance electrolytes. Additionally, the blood will be subjected to a continuously recirculating regeneration through a carbon sorbent column where toxins and contaminants are removed. The blood temperature is maintained at the target blood temperature for a treatment period, and the blood is cooled after the treatment period has been completed. The method can also be effective in treating various ailments.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for manipulating a temperature set-point of a human or homeothermic-animal for increasing or decreasing the body temperature above or below the prevailing body temperature for therapeutic purposes. The method includes the steps of warming or cooling sphenoid sinuses externally resulting in manipulation of the temperature of the pituitary gland which in turn results in manipulation of the body-temperature set-point and the body temperature manipulates accordingly to the new temperature set-point. A heat exchange medium can be used to warm or cool sphenoid sinuses and thus the pituitary gland. The heat exchange fluid can be liquid, or gas maintained at a predetermined temperature. Alternatively, a temperature-controlled probe can be used that upon contact with the sphenoid sinuses provides for the heat exchange.

Abstract: A therapeutic sleeve and techniques for using it are provided. A therapeutic sleeve may house a conduit carrying a constant stream of a chilled or heated working fluid throughout the sleeve. A heating element may evenly distribute heat throughout the sleeve. The sleeve may provide a precise temperature-controlled pocket that significantly improves treatment of pain or discomfort in the user's feet, head, or other body parts. A software application may enable a user to set or adjust a temperature, set timers, record sleep patterns, and view analytics or other data.
