Abstract: A pessary system for providing pelvic floor support for USL and other ligaments. The pessary has an elongated probe with independently inflatable balloons each located substantially the same distance from the insertion end of the probe and which inflate into separate radial sectors. The probe can be inserted into a vaginal cavity and the balloons inflated provide mechanical support to the USLs. Independent inflation of each balloon allows the mechanical USL support provided to be varied on left and right sides to compensate for differences in the degree of degradation and positioning of the USL ligaments on either side.

Abstract: Apparatus for accessing a body lumen or a body cavity, the apparatus comprising: a hollow shaft having a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the lumen of the hollow shaft is configured to receive an endoscope, and further wherein the distal end of the hollow shaft comprises a movable portion which is configured to be moved between (i) a straight configuration in which the movable portion is parallel to a longitudinal axis of the hollow shaft, and (ii) a curved configuration in which the movable portion is curved relative to the longitudinal axis of the hollow shaft, whereby to bend the endoscope disposed within the lumen of the hollow shaft; a sleeve having a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the lumen of the sleeve is configured to receive the hollow shaft and the endoscope disposed therein.

Abstract: Various blood flow control devices, control systems, and fluid delivery systems are also described herein. The fluid delivery systems may include a pump (108,1308,1408) configured for manual or automated delivery of fluids, or configured to switch between automated and manual modes of delivery. The pump (1308,1408) may be a syringe pump that utilizes a rack (1358,1458) and pinion (1459) system, a motor, and a sensor to track the position and/or movement of a component of the syringe pump during fluid transfer. Alternatively, the pump may be a pressure differential pump that includes a flow restrictor and a pressure sensor that controls delivery of fluid from a fluid reservoir. Systems including the syringe and pressure differential pumps are also described.

Abstract: An implantable device (1310) includes a conduit (1314), an adjustable membrane element (1312) coupled to the conduit near the front end of the conduit for controllable coaptation of a body lumen, such as coaptation of a urethra as treatment for urinary incontinence, and a fixation mechanism (1350) at or near the front end of the conduit. The fixation mechanism is configured to anchor the implantable device to the tissue using a movement of a push wire (1324). Optionally, the fixation mechanism can also allow the implantable device to be released from the tissue using another movement of the push wire, to allow for repositioning or removal of the implantable device.

Abstract: A delivery system (10, 110) is provided for delivering and deploying an implantable balloon-based occlusion device (20) including an inflatable balloon (22). The delivery system (10, 110) includes a delivery handle (11), which includes a fluid-retaining chamber (41, 141); a plunger, which is slidingly disposed in the fluid-retaining chamber (41, 141); and a proximal rotatable user-control knob (31). A fluid-conveyance lumen catheter (18) defines a catheter fluid-conveyance lumen (19) in fluid communication with the fluid-retaining chamber (41, 141) and the inflatable balloon (22). A catheter lumen shaft (26) is in reversible connection with the balloon-based occlusion device (20), longitudinally slidable with respect to the delivery handle (11). The delivery handle (11) is configured such that rotation of the proximal rotatable user-control knob (31) in a first rotational direction concurrently (a) expels at least some of the fluid from the fluid-retaining chamber (41, 141) into the inflatable balloon (22), via the catheter fluid-conveyance lumen (19), and (b) shortens a length of the balloon-based occlusion device (20) by proximally pulling the catheter lumen shaft (26). Other embodiments are also described.
