    Abstract: Optical guiding means (10) configured for application with a drug delivery device having a movable dosage programming component (12) comprising a rotary encoder system and a sensor arrangement (14) comprising at least one optical sensor (16, 16') configured to detect movement of the movable dosage programming component (12) relative to the sensor arrangement (14) during dosing of a drug by emitting radiation (18, 18') and detecting reflections (20, 20') of the emitted radiation from the rotary encoder system, wherein the optical guiding means (10) are configured for guiding the radiation (18, 18') and reflections (20, 20') of the emitted radiation and comprise at least one light pipe (100, 100') having the shape of a frustum with a sensor-side surface (102, 102') and a encoder-side surface (104,104'). The at least one light pipe comprises one or more of the following features: the ratio of the sensor-side surface (102) and the encoder-side surface (104) being equal to or larger than about 1.0; the ratio of the surface (24) of a discreet encoding target (22) of the rotary encoder system and the encoder-side surface (104) being equal to or larger than 1.0; the encoder-side surface (104) having a roughness with an average feature size in the range of the wavelength of the radiation emitted by the at least one optical sensor (16, 16'); the sensor-side surface forms a single lens face (26) being moulded as part of the optical guiding means (10), wherein the single lens face (26) is formed as collimating optics.

    Abstract: A medical stopcock assembly with position detection includes a medical stopcock and a sensor. The medical stopcock may include a main body and a valve body. The valve body may define a valve passageway and be moveable relative to the main body between a first position where a first input port and an output port are in fluid communication via the valve passageway, a second position where a second input port and the output port are in fluid communication via the valve passageway, and a third position where the second input port and the first input port are in fluid communication via the valve passageway. An external surface of the valve body may include a position structure. The sensor may be configured to sense the position structure to determine whether the valve body is in the first position, the second position, or the third position.

    Abstract: A configurable automated blood component manufacturing system includes a durable hardware component and a single use fluid flow circuit. The hardware component includes a pump station, a centrifuge, and a controller including a touchscreen. The hardware component further includes hangers for suspending containers, a weight scale associated with each hanger, a plurality of tubing damps, and a cassette nesting module including a plurality of valves and pressure sensors. The fluid flow circuit includes a separation chamber received in the centrifuge, a fluid flow control cassette mounted in the cassette nesting module, and a plurality of containers in fluid communication with the fluid flow cassette. The controller is pre-programmed to automatically operate the system to perform one or more standard blood processing procedures selected by an operator by input to the touchscreen, and is configured to be further programmed by the operator to perform additional blood processing procedures.
