A vehicle (1) comprises a base body (10) having a platform (28) for supporting both laterally oriented feet of a user. A steerable front axle (50) is supported on the base body (10), a steering axis defined by the front axle being inclined with respect to a normal line to the platform (28) by an angle α, a single front wheel (30) being mounted to the front axle such that an axis of rotation of the front wheel (30) is arranged in a distance d from the steering axis and the front wheel (30) having an effective radius. The steerable front axle of the vehicle (1) is not operable by a manual steering device for controlling the front axle. The vehicle (1) further comprises at least one rear wheel (70) having a fixed wheel orientation that is mounted to the base body (10) in a wheelbase distance from the front wheel (30) and a resetting mechanism acting on the steerable front axle, having a spring rate k ST . The distance d, the angle α and the spring rate k ST as well as further parameters are chosen such that certain relations are satisfied at a predetermined inclination angle of the vehicle (1). This ensures that the vehicle (1) has favorable handling characteristics.

Disclosed is a method for increasing the activity of human stem cells. The method is characterized by treating a culture medium with endothelin-1. Also, the highly active human stem cells prepared by the method and cell therapeutics comprising the highly active human stem cells are provided. Human mesenchymal stem cells of various origins can be activated by the method, and thus resulting highly active human mesenchymal stem cells can be developed as effective cell therapeutics.

A wheel and tire combination is particularly adapted for use with a skate having large diameter, canted wheels. In one embodiment, the wheel rim has a generally "L"-shaped cross-section and a tire disposed within the notch of the "L". The tire has a rounded contour and, when the wheel is canted, pressure of the ground against the tire forces the tire into the notch of the "L". The tire may be molded in place on the rim of the wheel or may be molded as a separate part that is stretched over the rim of the wheel. In another embodiment, the rim has a channel-shaped cross-section. This embodiment is particularly adapted for use with air-filled or foam tires.
