The invention concerns a wheel in particular for an in-line roller skate comprising a ball bearing including an inner ring (6) and an outer ring (10) separated by rolling elements (5) and a rolling surface (5) integral with the outer ring. The invention is characterised in that the outer ring (10) constitutes the element of a rim maintaining the rolling surface (5) while said rim edges are located in the proximity of the mounting surface (20) of the sealing means (13, 14).

The invention relates to an observation wheel type ride comprising a wheel, multiple passenger cabins supported by the wheel, a drive mechanism for rotating the wheel about its rotational axis, and a support structure that supports the wheel. The wheel furthermore comprises two first bearings (114), provided with a first bearing locking mechanism (116), and two second bearings (115), provided with a second bearing locking mechanism (118). Each bearing locking mechanism (116, 118) can selectively be converted between a locking condition, in which it prevents rotational movement of a bearing inner ring (114A, 115A) relative to a bearing outer ring (114B, 115B), and an unlocking condition, in which it allows for rotational movement of the first bearing inner ring (114A, 115A) relative to the first bearing outer ring (114B, 115B). Providing the second bearings (115) allows for rotational movement of the wheel about the rotational axis of its support axle (113) when the first bearing locking mechanisms (116) are in their locking condition.

A Wheel hub-and-bearing set assembly for a roller skate includes a spacer, a sleeve formed with a first flange at one end thereof and having an outer face, a pair of bearings mounted in a space between the spacer and the sleeve, a hub body sleeved on the sleeve, and a bearing cap disposed at the other end of the sleeve and formed with a second flange that cooperates with the first flange and the outer face to define a retaining space thereamong. The hub body is formed with a tongue that is fittingly received in the retaining space.

A mobile platform such as, but not limited to, a skateboard or roller skate type of structure capable of movably transporting an individual over a supporting surface. A wheel assembly connected to the platform includes at least one but more practically a plurality of wheels each having a spherical configuration extending outwardly from opposite surfaces of the platform. A mounting assembly and each of a plurality of different embodiments of a bearing assembly are structured to facilitate a substantially universal, rotational movement of said wheel (s) relative to said platform. The different embodiments of the bearing assembly facilitate either a free or unrestricted universal rotational movement of the one wheel relative to the platform or alternatively a universal, rotational movement thereof concurrently about more defined rotational axes.
