Abstract: There is provided a system for treating a combination of a liquid and granular matter, which granular matter is larger than or equal to a minimum grain size and comprises two or more types of granular matter with different densities, wherein at least two of the different types of granular matter have densities being larger than the density of the liquid. The system comprises a stratification machine with a stratification or sorting chamber for holding the combination of liquid and granular matter, which stratification or sorting chamber has one or more side walls. The stratification machine also holds a movable plate arranged within the stratification or sorting chamber, where the moveable plate has sieve openings smaller than the minimum grain size of the granular matter to be treated to thereby maintain the granular matter above or on top of the movable plate. The stratification machine further holds a drive system for moving the movable plate in vertical upwards and downwards movements within the stratification or sorting chamber to thereby exercise or treat the granular matter within the liquid. There is also provided a method for treating the combination of a liquid and granular matter. The granular matter may include or consist of polymer granular matter.

Abstract: A method and centrifugal apparatus for separating more dense particles from less dense particles contained in a slurry. The separator apparatus receives slurry into a rotor assembly (10) consisting of a bowl (14) open upwardly and a surrounding hutch chamber (22). Abstract: This invention concerns a mineral beneficiation method, and in particular a method for producing different product streams from a feed material which has a continuous density distribution using a jig. The method includes adding at least one foreign component to the feed material in the jig. The foreign component is particulate and has a density that is selected to improve the segregation in a particle bed in the jig so that the bed can be cut at a specific height in order to achieve a desired particulate quality in the product stream. The method includes determining the height in the particle bed at which the density in the bed has a value corresponding to the required cut density and cutting the particle bed to remove the product stream. After the product steam is cut from the particle bed the foreign component in the product stream is removed. The invention also concerns an apparatus for producing the product stream from the feed material.

Une application est la prospection et l'exploitation de placers, l'extraction, la séparation et la sélection tant de minéraux lourds comme l'or, la cassitérite que de gemmes de moindre densité comme le diamant ou la topaze. Le dispositif est particulièrement adaptable à des barges flottantes.
