摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus for processing and mixing and thus homogenizing of a mass loos or incoherent material and comprises at least one trench silo provided with an inlet opening which is divided in compartments in longitudinal direction. The top layer is scraped from a stack of material present in a compartment by a scraper and deposited in the next compartment. This scraping operation is repeated until the previous compartment is completely empty. After a compartment has thus been completely filled, the material present therein is given the opportunity to be processed. A fully emptied compartment is filled again with material from a previous compartment. The material present in the end compartment, after being processed, is removed by a discharge conveyor belt. The invention also focuses on the operation of such a device.

摘要: Methods of treating leachates in rock piles. Exemplary leachates include neutral aqueous leachates containing selenates and nitrates, said leachates being found in waste rock piles from coal mining operations. In certain embodiments, the method includes introducing an inert gas to the lower section of the rock pile, and allowing bacteria indigenous to the mining site to reduce the selenates and nitrates to selenium and nitrogen, respectively.

摘要: A geological repository adapted for permanent isolation of hazardous waste and a method permanently isolating hazardous waste from the biosphere are disclosed. The geological repository includes a near surface void having side walls and a floor disposed in a geologically stable formation. The geologically stable formation is selected to have low permeability, thereby providing a barrier to ingress of groundwater. The repository is provided with a ramp to the floor of the void for movement of hazardous material transporting vehicles and an inflatable cover configured to provide a barrier between the void and the surface environment. The inflatable cover has a flexible top layer adapted to extend over the entire area of said void and outer edge elements which form a plurality of skirt flaps disposed along its perimeter. An anchor is used to secure said skirt flaps to a surface perimeter of said void so as to maintain a seal between the inflatable cover and said void. One or more sealable access hatches are provided in the inflatable cover to allow access of personnel and hazardous material transporting vehicles between said void and the surface environment. The repository is also provided with a fan for inflating the inflatable cover.

摘要: A method for repurposing the waste product from the production of heat or electricity from solid fuels comprising the step (1) of mixing the waste product with water and producing pumpable hydro-mixture, the step (2) of mixing the hydro- mixture with the admixture with content of organic matter necessary for plant growth in amount of 5 to 85% related to the weight of dry matter contained in the hydro-mixture and producing the mixture with content of organic matter necessary for plant growth, and the step (6) of safe landfilling or use of produced mixture with content of organic matter necessary for plant growth. Also a method is disclosed, where in the step (2) the hydro-mixture is mixed with the admixture with content of inorganic matter in amount of 5 to 85% related to the weight of dry matter contained in the hydro-mixture and producing the mixture with content of inorganic matter, the step (5) of mixing the mixture with solidifying agent, and the step (6) of safe landfilling or use of produced mixture with content of inorganic matter, and a method of use of this repurposed waste product.
