Abstract: Downhole tool assembly (10) for mounting to a core barrel assembly (12) including a core tube (14) and a pair of split tubes (16). The downhole tool assembly (10) includes a downhole tool (18) and at least one sleeve (20) dimensioned to slidingly engage the split tubes (16) to inhibit radial movement of the split tubes (16) and receive and retain the downhole tool (18) coaxially with the core tube (14). Core ejection pistons (72), and methods for extracting a core from bedrock are also disclosed. A housing assembly (120) for a downhole tool, downhole assemblies (180, 200), and methods of assembling such assemblies are also disclosed.

Abstract: An example CO2 monitoring systems is configured for monitoring levels of CO2 in a wellbore. A CO2 monitoring system may include one or more laser monitoring tools. A laser monitoring tool may include an optical element to output a laser beam, a detector to receive the laser beam, a first chamber housing the optical element and detector, and a second chamber including an inlet and an outlet receive and release, respectively, wellbore fluid. The first chamber may be in fluid connection with second chamber via a gas permeable membrane. Gas may permeate from second chamber into first chamber. Gas in the first chamber is subjected to a laser beam. Absorption of light by the gas is measured, and content of gas is determined based at least in part on the amount of light absorption by the gas.

Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for shifting core data to account for flaws that include segmenting core data into multiple contiguous core segments defined by breaking points and iteratively assessing and shifting the segments in sequence (from the deepest segment to the shallowest segment) to align the core data of the contiguous core segments with corresponding segments of log data. For each shift of an assessed segment by a given distance the shallower segments of core data are shifted by the given distance. The breaking points used to define contiguous core segments are identified based on image processing of an image of the core, including identification and comparison of Haralick textual feature parameters across different portions of the core image.
