The invention relates to a feed roller, comprising a round plate-type flange body (1), and radial ribs (2) fixed at an even spacing over its outer circumference with gripping members (3) for providing a firm grip of the surface of a tree stem being handled by the feed roller. According to the invention, the outer edge of the plate-type ribs (2) is disposed at an oblique angle (a) to the axis (4) of the feed roller, and the outer edge of each rib (2) comprises several gripping members having a straight blade edge (5), arranged such that the blade edges extend parallel to the axis (4) of the feed roller.

The present disclosure provides systems, methods and assemblies comprising one or more tapered feed rolls. Tapered feed rolls may be used to change the rate and direction of workpiece travel along a processing line while retaining the workpieces in sequential order. Routing workpiece flow with tapered feed rolls may allow the workpieces to be tracked along one or more processing lines, and may reduce the operational space required for workpiece processing.

A log feeding plant has a fixed frame (14), two parallel rollers forming between them a nip through which a log is to be fed in its longitudinal direction, and a support structure (4a) supporting one roller. In the plant is used an adjusting device (7) having a cylinder unit (13) which is connected to the frame (14) and whose movable member (15) is connected to the support structure (4a)to enable adjustment of the width of the nip according to the log thickness. The cylinder unit is a double-acting hydraulic cylinder unit (13) having an integrated piston-position indicator enabling fixation of the piston of the hydraulic cylinder unit in a carefully determined, desired position. The hydraulic cylinder unit (13) is clamped between a first and a second resilient means (16 and 17, respectively), which are connected to the frame (14) and against whose action the hydraulic cylinder unit (13) is movable in its entirety a short distance in a direction corresponding to an increase and a decrease, respectively, in the width of the nip.

Gemäß der Erfindung verfügt eine Oberdruckeinrichtung für eine Sägeeinrichtung über eine Anzahl von Oberdruckrollen, die über jeweils wenigstens einen Betätigungszylinder (11) bei bestimmungsgemäßer Anordnung gegenüber einem Transportband der Sägeeinrichtung schwenkbar sind. Weiterhin ist eine Steuereinrichtung vorhanden, die für jeden Betätigungszylinder (11) ein Steuerventil (17) sowie eine Wegmesseinheit (13) und eine auf einen in einem Schwellwertgeber (15) abgespeicherten Wegschwellwert reaktive Umschalteinheit (14) aufweist, die an das Steuerventil (17) angeschlossen ist. Bei Überschreiten des Wegschwellwerts wird das Steuerventil (17) mit der Umschalteinheit (14) auf Druckregelung geschaltet, und nach Unterschreiten des Wegschwellwerts wird auf Wegregelung geschaltet. Dadurch ist eine große Toleranz in der Dicke von beispielsweise Brettern als Sägegut sichergestellt.

To allow the feeding roller to be adapted for different tree species and different debarking conditions, separate replaceable sets of rib elements (6) are provided for the body of the feeding roller, the design (a-d, r) of the ribs being different in separate sets of rib elements for different tree species and debarking conditions.

The invention relates to a feed wheel for longitudinal feeding of elongated objects, such as tree trunks, which feed wheel com- prises a hub (2), a shock-absorbing layer (3) of elastic material arranged around the hub, and a mantle (4) attached to the shock-absorbing layer. The mantle (4) is provided with gripping members (5) on the outside for gripping an object fed by means of the feed wheel. The mantle (4) is secured to the hub (2) by means of fastening members (6), each of which extending between the hub and the mantle through or at the side of the shock-absorbing layer (3). The respective fastening member (6) is bendable or compressible so as to allow the mantle (4) to be pressed down towards the hub (2).

The invention relates to a control system for the feeding device in a timber harvester, comprising, in connection with a frame assembly (18, 19, 20) in a feeding device, at least three transfer means (15, 16, 17) which are in a power transmission connection with the trunk during the operation of the feeding device; hydraulic motors (5, 6, 7, 8) driving the transfer means (15, 16, 17); and a hydraulic system (9, 10, 11, 12, 14) with its control valves (4). The hydraulic motors (5, 6, 7, 8) are coupled in parallel in a way that the parallel connection comprises a first branch (H1) with at least two hydraulic motors (5, 7) and a second branch (H2) with at least two hydraulic motors (6, 8). The hydraulic motors in the first (H1) and the second (H2) branch are coupled in series. At least one hydraulic motor (5, 6) in the first (H1) and the second branch (H2) is coupled to drive the same transfer means (15). The other hydraulic motors (7, 8) in the first (H1) and the second (H2) branch are each arranged to drive their respective transfer means (16, 17).

The present invention relates to a shock-absorbing feed roller, and more particularly to a resiliently carried, adjustable feed roller for use in a harvesting unit of a forest processor. The feed roller includes a body (2) which is driven around a rotational axis, a mantle (1) which is intended for engagement with the trunk of a tree and which is spaced radially around the body (2), and resilient elements (3) loosely disposed in the space between the body (2) and the mantle (1). The resilient elements function to transmit resiliently radial forces acting between the body and the mantle. The invention is characterized in that the resilient elements (3) are removably disposed between dogging elements (4, 5) that are distributed uniformly around the circumference of the radial space and mounted alternately on the body (2) and on the mantle (1). The dogging elements coact with the resilient elements to transmit radially and peripherally acting forces between the body (2) and the mantle (1).
