    Abstract: Aspects involve an aggregate plow system (100) that may be used in a system for cooling aggregate, such as may be found in a batch plant (600) involved in producing concrete. The plow system (100) generally contacts aggregate (404) as it is conveyed by a conveyor belt (406) to create a furrow within the aggregate (404) prior to dispensing of liquid nitrogen or other coolant (412) onto the aggregate (404). Additionally, the plow assembly (100) may mix the ingredients of the aggregate (404) on the belt (406) by disputing the aggregate (404) piled on the conveyor belt (406). The formation of the furrow, in place of a mound of aggregate on the belt, aids in retaining liquid nitrogen in the furrow such that it may better penetrate into the aggregate and thereby improving cooling. In either and both ways, the plow assembly improves dispersion of the coolant on and into the aggregate as it is conveyed by the conveyor belt.

    Abstract: An apparatus, system, device, and the like, for a liquid nitrogen dispensing head (100) that may be used in a system for cooling aggregate (404), such as may be found in a batch plant involved in producing concrete. The dispensing head is positioned over a conveyor belt (402) that conveys aggregate to a mixing apparatus to produce concrete. The head dispenses liquid nitrogen onto the aggregate to cool the aggregate and may include interior chambers (106) separated by one or more baffles (204, 206). The chambers may reduce the pressure of the liquid nitrogen onto the aggregate in relation to the flow pressure of the liquid nitrogen entering the dispensing head. In another example, an assembly may include sidewalls that extend to the aggregate on either side of the head to form a cooling tunnel through which the aggregate is conveyed and is exposed to the liquid nitrogen being dispensed from the head.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and/or system of collecting and treating waste or residual uncured concrete so that it can be reused in various applications. Broadly, the method involves collecting residual uncured concrete from multiple sources and treating each batch of uncured concrete with a calculated amount of an inhibitor formulation to inhibit the curing or setting time of the batch for a predetermined time period to enable the separately sourced batches of uncured concrete to be combined into a single aggregated batch of uncured concrete for reuse. The invention enables residual or waste uncured concrete from multiple jobs or sources to be aggregated and stabilized to the same level so that the combined batch remains uncured for the desired time period in order to allow for the effective reuse of the otherwise wasted concrete. The aggregated batch of uncured concrete can be treated with a calculated amount of an activator formulation to advance the setting time of the batch as required for its reuse.

    Abstract: Described are a method and system for minimizing errors in the manufacture or management of aggregate-containing construction materials such as concrete. Aggregates used for making concrete are stored or weighed in dry bulk bin type hoppers, and conveyed from these hoppers into mixer drums which batching or mix the concrete. The hoppers or conveyor belts may contain sensor probes for measuring moisture levels in the aggregate. These sensor probes require calibration from time to time, but time and expense are required for proper calibration, leading to habitually erroneous moisture level data used in the industry on a daily basis. The present inventors believe that the smallest inaccuracies in aggregate moisture level readings can have profound effects on the properties of the resultant concrete product. To confront this problem, the present inventors discovered that the inaccuracy of these aggregate moisture sensors, as used for evaluating the aggregate as a dry bulk material, can be detected and even addressed through the use of slump monitoring systems to evaluate the concrete slurry mix prepared from the aggregates.

    Abstract: A cleaning system is disclosed for cleaning concrete residue from a concrete mixer truck. The cleaning system may include a water delivery system having one or more conduits configured to deliver pressurized water to one or more spray headers positioned at various back-end portions of the truck. The cleaning system further includes one or more valves configured to control the flow of pressurized water through the one or more conduits to the one or more spray headers. In various embodiments, the one or more valves are manually operable to control the release of water to the spray headers. In other embodiments, the one or more valves are controlled by a computing device through an electrical coupling such as a communication bus. The cleaning system may be configured to clean different portions of the truck using different sets of spray headers at different times as part of a washing protocol.
