    摘要: A non-pneumatic tire includes an annular inner ring, an annular outer ring, and a support structure positioned between the annular inner ring to the annular outer ring. The support structure includes a multilayer structure of a rubber skim layer and a cord embedded in the rubber skim layer. The rubber skim layer has resistance to ozone exposure without need for a protective layer overlying the rubber skim layer. The rubber skim layer exhibits adhesion to embedded metallic cords. Methods of making a non-pneumatic tire include forming a multilayer structure by applying a skim layer directly over one or more cords.

In one embodiment, the method comprises extrusion of a rubber-like material through a mold; aligning the distal ends of the extruded rubber-like material to form a circular shape for the extruded rubber-like material; and vulcanizing the distal ends to form a tire.

    摘要: A mold 810) for manufacturing a spoke for a non-pneumatic tire is provided that has first and second mold pieces (16, 22) with first and second engagement surfaces to engage the spoke. The first mold piece (16) has a void (20), and is movable relative to the second mold piece. A volume compensation feature (26) is carried by the first mold piece (16) and has a base that is located at the void. The volume compensation feature has a deflection plate (30) that engages the base, and has a non-deflected orientation and a deflected orientation. When the mold is closed the spoke engages the deflection plate and deflects the deflection plate relative to the first engagement surface so as to be in the deflected orientation.
