摘要: Increased control and efficiency over the wastewater (11) purification can be achieved through creating conditions that allow the operator to selectively prioritize the digestive function of microorganism in activated sludge. The gas-dispersion return sludge (36) is created using a reactive gas (37), which is blended with sludge (21) to create a mixture of gas and liquid, which is passed through an atomizer (24) or a cavitation pump (22) to instantly render the reactive gas (37) to an ultra-fine bubble state. At least a portion of the ultra-fine bubbles dissolve within the gas-dispersion return sludge (36), activating the dormant microorganisms. Due to a complete or an almost complete absence of biodegradable material in the gas-dispersion return sludge (36), the microorganism prioritize their digestive function, and when exposed to biodegradable pollutants present in wastewater (11), digest the pollutants using biochemical pathways different from the ones used in nature.

摘要: A method of treating waste water is described. Firstly, providing specially acclimatized microbial consortia (18) with relatively low sensitivity to changes in pH and changes in temperature, such that the microbial consortia (18) is capable of metabolizing contaminants (26) efficiently within a predetermined broad pH range and broad temperature range. Secondly, maintain the microbial consortia (18) in a space limited and a substrate limited mode within an immobilized bioreactor (12) operating within the predetermined pH range and the predetermined temperature range. Thirdly, introduce waste water with liquified insoluble organic contaminants (26) into the immobilized bioreactor (12). The organic contaminants (26) are metabolized by the microbial consortia (18) working under space limited and substrate limited conditions, thereby treating the waste water with a minimal sludge production rate. The best mode of waste treatment should include an anaerobic immobilized bioreactor, an anoxic immobilized bioreactor, an aerobic immobilized bioreactor and a nitrification immobilized bioreactor arranged in desired series to accommodate a continuous flow of waste water.

In addtion to nitrification, the bioreactor is used for denitrification by periodically carrying out flushing of the bioelements with a fluid, preferably air or deoxidized water, for so short periods of time that the microorganisms do not suffer damage, but sufficient for the bioelements to be cleaned of dead biomaterial. Also disclosed is a system which, with various units, may be designed for concrete wishes, and moreover a bioelement is disclosed.
