摘要: An apparatus for the treatment of drinking water contained in a vessel is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a housing, a drinking water inlet and a drinking water outlet. The apparatus also includes a pump operable to pump drinking water from the water inlet to the water outlet, wherein the water outlet and pump are configured to dispense drinking water generally upwards from the water outlet below a surface of the drinking water to cause a continuing disturbance in a surface of the drinking water contained in the vessel. In one example, the apparatus is used to reduce algae in the water. In another example, the apparatus is used to increase the oxygen content in the water.

摘要: In one embodiment, hydrodynamic cavitation lyses influent bacteria, releasing intracellular enzymes, and creates CaCO 3 seed crystals that are discharged at the base of the water column. Bottom-dwelling upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB)-like granules grow in a dense, viscous N, P & Ca++ rich fluid ("hydrolytic brine"). The brine hydrolyzes ancient sludge and fresh solids into simple liquids. The granules convert hydrolyzed liquids into gas. New CaCO 3 seeds grow at the produced gas/supernatant interface and propagate across the entire lagoon. Once the sludge inventory is digested, there is an excess of granules that modulate their gross productivity in response to substrate load, pH, and temperature. In one specific example, the treated lagoon has no odor, is free of gelled sludge and effluent.

摘要: The invention relates to a surface aeration treatment with recirculation of classified sludges, which is used for treating black waters, municipal waters or, in certain cases, wastewaters, comprising the following steps: screening the influent by means of a solids screen solely for the raw waters; recirculation pumping of waters with the lowest amount of dissolved oxygen from the biological oxidation tank to the surface aerator; injecting air by means of a blade fan with the purpose of maintaining high oxygen concentrations in the air inside the aerator; stirring by means of a mechanical stirrer which optionally provides for stirring, mixing and supplementary aeration; surface aeration by recirculating the mixed liquor and injecting air, which generates the liquid and gaseous interface that provoke oxygen transfer inside the aerator formed by the surface conduits; sedimentation with sludge classification with the purpose of not using sludges whose qualitative characteristics have been activated discretely; in this step, the sludges are classified into heavy, intermediate and light sludges with the purpose of recirculating the light sludges and recirculating or removing the heavy sludges whenever there are excessive sludges. The treatment can use the potential energy that is wasted in rapid black water courses with differences in level between 5 and 30 m, thereby enabling considerable energy savings by reducing the energy required for repumping and stirring.

摘要: A wastewater treatment process elicits microorganisms to convert a waste stream/organic resource to intracellular biopolymer polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). The process includes (i) waste stream/organic resource composition feed criteria, (ii) configuration coupled with operational parameters, and (iii) PHA-laden biomass separation and stabilization. A waste stream/organic resource capable of producing enhanced levels of PHA may be selected based on a combination of criteria, which may include short chain fatty acid concentration, protein concentration, polysaccharides concentration, and total suspended solids concentration. The waste stream is introduced into an aeration basin upon a specific configuration and operated under various parameter combinations for selecting/enriching microorganisms capable of producing PHA. The PHA-laden biomass is separated and stabilized for downstream PHA related product beneficial uses. The present process achieves concurrent wastewater treatment and PHA production, where PHA level (of more than 10% on a cell- weight basis) otherwise could not be obtained.
