A coated film having improved optical properties and increased recyclability properties comprising a combination of: (a) at least one film layer of a recyclable polyolefin; and (b) at least one recyclable coating layer disposed on at least a portion of the surface of one side of the at least one film layer of the recyclable polyolefin such that the at least one coating layer provides the coated film with an increase gloss at 60°, a reduced haze, an increase in clarity; and a recyclability property.

A polyethylene comprising of ethylene derived units and 0.5 wt% to 10 wt% C3 to C12 α-olefin derived units may be synthesized using a mixed catalyst that comprises rac-dimethylsilylbis(tetrahydroindenyl)zirconium dichloride and a zirconium co-catalyst in a mole ratio of 50:50 to 90:10, and wherein the zirconium co-catalyst is a poor comonomer incorporator as compared to the rac-dimethylsilylbis(tetrahydroindenyl)zirconium dichloride catalyst. Such a polyethylene may have a density of 0.91 g/cm3 to 0.93 g/cm3, an I2 value of 0.5 g/10 min to 2 g/10 min, an I21 value of 25 g/10 min to 75 g/10 min, an I21/I2 ratio of 25 to 75, a molar reversed-co-monomer index (RCI,m) of 30 to 180, a phase angle equal or lower than 70° at complex modulus G* of 10,000 Pa, a Θ2 of 1.5 radians to -1.5 radians, and a low density population of 50% and 70% by weight of the polyethylene.

A chitosan-latex binder comprising chitosan and latex binder in a weight ratio of chitosan to latex binder of from about 1:10 to about 1:15,000. A method of making a chitosan-latex binder, the method comprising (a) contacting chitosan with an acidic solution to form a chitosan solution, and (b) contacting at least a portion of the chitosan solution with a latex binder to form the chitosan-latex binder, wherein the chitosan-latex binder is characterized by a chitosan to latex binder weight ratio of from about 1:10 to about 1:15,000.

The present invention relates to a flame retardant and iodine stain resistant topcoat composition comprising: a thermoplastic component including one or both of ethylene vinyl acetate resin and chloride vinyl acetate resin; and a radiation curable component including one or more acrylic oligomers and one or more acrylic monomers. The present invention further relates a method of coating at least a portion of a substrate with the topcoat composition and a substrate being at least partially coated with the topcoat composition. The present invention further discloses a flame retardant topcoat composition, comprising an alumina pigment; and a radiation curable component including one or more acrylic oligomers and one or more acrylic monomers.

Provided herein is an encapsulant composition. The encapsulant composition, which is useful in photovoltaic modules, comprises a copolymer of ethylene, vinyl acetate and a third comonomer. Preferred third comonomers include methacrylic acid, carbon monoxide, acrylic acid, maleic anhydride mono-methyl ester (MAME), and maleic anhydride. Further provided herein is a photovoltaic module comprising the encapsulant composition. The photovoltaic module is less susceptible to potential-induced degradation than are photovoltaic modules that use conventional encapsulants that are primarily copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate.
