Abstract: Scavenging chemicals used in mitigation treatments of hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbon streams often continue to react and form polymers that foul the processing system. Disclosed herein are methods for determining if a scavenging chemical mitigator, or its reaction or degradation product, will polymerized during or after mitigation treatments. This information allows for the optimization of mitigation treatments that pre-emptively control or prevent polymer formation. Such pre-emption measures reduce the cost and time related to remedial actions to treat polymer-fouled equipment.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the use of aryl sulfonium salts as a corrosion inhibitor in a water injection system, a hydrocarbon extraction system, or a hydrocarbon production system. Treating oilfield injection and produced fluids with aryl sulfonium salts can significantly decrease microbially induced corrosion. Thus, these aryl sulfonium salts can be effectively used as corrosion inhibitors in oilfield fluids.

Abstract: A method for the stimulation of a hydrocarbon-bearing formation, said method comprising the steps of: providing a wellbore in need of stimulation; inserting a plug in the wellbore at a location slightly beyond a predetermined location; inserting a perforating tool and a spearhead or breakdown acid into the wellbore; positioning the tool at said predetermined location; perforating the wellbore with the tool thereby creating a perforated area; allowing the spearhead acid to come into contact with the perforated area for a predetermined period of time sufficient to prepare the formation for stimulation; removing the tool form the wellbore; and initiating the stimulation of the perforated area using a stimulation fluid. Also disclosed is a corrosion inhibiting composition for us with the acid composition.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are sulfur-functional tall oil compositions, referred to herein as S-TO compositions. The S-TO is a sulfur-functional tall oil fatty amide composition, or sulfur-functional tall oil phosphate ester composition. Also disclosed herein are S-TO concentrates, which are stable and do not degrade to form H 2 S under standard storage conditions for a period of 1 day to 5 years. Also disclosed herein are treated water sources and treated metal containments including one or more S-TO compositions. The S-TO compositions inhibit corrosion of a metal containments contacted with one or more water sources, wherein the one or more water sources comprise one or more corrodents. The S-TO compositions are as effective or more effective at inhibiting corrosion than conventional sulfur-based corrosion inhibitors when compared on a weight basis.
