The compositions are particularly well suited for the treatment of health care surfaces and other hard surfaces in need of treatment. In particular, the neutralizer, destainer/descaling, and passivating composition is an acid-based composition for use in instrument reprocessing.

Corrosion inhibiting compositions may include an alkenylphenone, which may be prepared by a method including providing an arylacetone and reacting the arylacetone with formaldehyde in the presence of a strong base catalyst. Methods of inhibiting corrosion of a steel surface of an oilfield equipment component may include contacting the steel surface with an aqueous solution comprising a corrosion inhibitor. The corrosion inhibitor may include a composition containing an alkenylphenone prepared by reacting an arylacetone with formaldehyde in the presence of a strong base catalyst.

Abstract: A method for the fracking or stimulation of a hydrocarbon-bearing formation, said method comprising the steps of: providing a wellbore in need of stimulation; inserting a plug in the wellbore at a predetermined location; inserting a perforating tool and a spearhead or breakdown acid into the wellbore; positioning the tool at said predetermined location; perforating the wellbore with the tool thereby creating a perforated area; allowing the spearhead acid to come into contact with the perforated area for a predetermined period of time sufficient to prepare the formation for fracking or stimulation; removing the tool form the wellbore; and initiating the fracking of the perforated area using a fracking fluid. Also disclosed is a corrosion inhibiting composition for us with the acid composition.

Abstract: Inhibiting or preventing corrosion of metallic components downhole may be accomplished by introducing neutralization media into a wellbore in the proximity of downhole metallic components, where the neutralization media comprises magnesium and where the method further includes subsequently contacting the neutralization media with a potentially corrosive environment comprising at least 5 volume % water, where the water has a pH of less than 11. This contacting activates the neutralization media with the water thereby releasing magnesium ions, and the magnesium ions react with hydroxyl ions of the water to give magnesium hydroxide in an amount effective to raise the pH of the water present to be between 8 and 12 thereby inhibiting or preventing corrosion of metallic components downhole.

Abstract: A composition and method of inhibiting corrosion, white rust, and scale formation on components in a water system. The composition preferably comprises an amino-acid based polymer (most preferably a potyaspartic acid or a salt thereof), hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid, and a second phosphonic acid (preferably a phosphonocarboxylic acid), and does not require the use of regulated metals. The composition is effective even in the presence of biocides. A preferred method of inhibiting white rust comprises adding an amino-acid based polymer or hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid or both to the water system. A preferred method of inhibiting corrosion, white rust, and scale formation comprises adding an amino-acid based polymer, hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid, and a phosphonocarboxylic acid to the water system. Preferably the active concentrations are at least 3 ppm each of the amino-acid based polymer and hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid when added to a volume of water in the water system.
