    Abstract: An electrolytic cell for the electrolysis of an electrolyte, preferably water, comprises a substantially cylindrical body comprising a series of concentric cylinders (11) or jackets, separated by gaps (11'), having different dimensions in length, i.e, inversely proportional to the diameter, calculated to have a substantially equal exchange surface between all the cylinders; the most external and the most internal of said cylinders being connected to an electric source for constituting respective anode and cathode; wherein said concentric cylinders (11) are closed at both ends thereof by a first cap (12) located at one end and a second cap (13) located at the opposite end, said first and second cap (12, 13) are internally shaped with cavities in a scalar arrangement corresponding to the scalar shaping of the ends of the concentric cylinders (11) forming their counter-shape and are provided with channels (18, 19, 20) that enable the passage of a liquid solution coming from an internal chamber (16) of the second cap (13), the transformation of the liquid solution into gas via electrolysis inside said gaps and the collection of said gases inside chambers located in the first cap (12).

    Abstract: Herein discussed is an electrochemical reactor comprising a mixed-conducting membrane, wherein the membrane comprises an electronically conducting phase and an ionically conducting phase, wherein the reactor is capable of reforming a hydrocarbon electrochemically, wherein the electrochemical reforming reactions involve the exchange of an ion through the membrane to oxidize the hydrocarbon. Further discussed herein is a method of producing hydrogen comprising providing an electrochemical (EC) reactor having a mixed-conducting membrane, introducing a first stream comprising a hydrocarbon to the reactor, introducing a second stream comprising water to the reactor, and reducing the water in the second stream to produce hydrogen, wherein the first stream and the second stream do not come in contact with each other in the reactor, and wherein the hydrocarbon is reformed electrochemically in the EC reactor.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a system for generating hydrogen gas, including an array of electrolyzer cells 14. Each electrolyzer cell 14 includes an electrode set comprising an anode comprising an inner cylindrical helical coil 20, a cathode comprising an outer cylindrical helical coil 22; and a housing for containing an electrolyte within which the helical coils 20, 22 are immersed. The housing comprises a top end plate 26, a bottom end plate 28 and an outer tube 30 defining an internal chamber 32 within which the helical coils are located. A gas outlet 34 is defined in the top end plate 26 and the bottom end plate 28 includes an inlet 36 connectable to a source of the electrolyte. The system includes a function generator for applying user-defined modulated electrical signals to the anode and the cathode causing the outer helical coils to oscillate, which assists in shaking off bubbles of oxygen and hydrogen gas from the coils.

    Abstract: An electrolytic reactor for the electrolytic treatment of a fluid is disclosed. The reactor comprises an electrolytic chamber, an electrode cartridge comprising an electrode assembly longitudinally extending from a crown section configured to operatively seal the electrolytic chamber when the electrode assembly is inserted in the electrolytic chamber; an inlet extending perpendicularly to a vertical longitudinal axis defined by the electrolytic chamber; and an outlet extending through the crown section along the vertical longitudinal axis defined by the electrolytic chamber, the outlet being configured to be in fluid communication with the electrolytic chamber when the electrolytic chamber is sealed by the crown section. Advantageouslly, by having the outlet extending upwardly above the electrodes, any dead zone typically found on electrodes at the level of the outlet are eliminated, increaing as such the useful surface area of the electrodes spanning the entire length of the electrolytic chamber.
