Abstract: The present invention relates to a thread cutting device for a sewing machine. The thread cutting device may adjust the state of a thread in a knife assembly since it is difficult to adjust the state of the thread through a sewing machine body. A cutting part having first and second protrusions and cut-out grooves may be formed on a knife of the knife assembly so as to reduce wasting of thread since thread remaining after sewing is cut to a short length when compared to that in a thread cutting device according to a related art. Further, the thread may be prevented from being tangled so as to improve work efficiency. The thread cutting device of the sewing machine according to the present invention consists essentially of: a sewing machine body (20); and a knife assembly (30) installed under the sewing machine body and having a knife (70) for cutting the thread after sewing. The knife assembly (30) consists essentially of: a hook body (40) mounted on a driving shaft (42); a bobbin case (50) received in the hook body (40); a bobbin (60) arranged within the bobbin case (50) so as to allow thread to be wound therearound; and the knife (70) disposed on the hook body (40) in order to cut the thread. The knife (70) has a curvature corresponding to an outer circumference of the bobbin case (50). Further, the knife has one side in which a coupling groove (72) is formed for coupling to the bobbin case (50) and the other side on which a cutting part (74) is formed for cutting the thread.

Abstract: The present invention provides an dispositif for a sewing machine which clamps the end of an upper thread for the next sewing job, wherein the upper thread is automatically cut after finishing sewing. The upper thread clamping device enables compatibility even when using presser feet with different widths. More specifically, the clamping device effectively clamps the upper thread even when using a narrow presser foot. Therefore, the clamping device is able to: prevent waste of sewing thread by maintaining the length of the upper thread from a needle as short as possible; effectively prevent separation of the upper thread from the needle; and effectively prevent entanglement of the sewing thread caused by unnecessary long lengths of the upper thread on the sewing surface when sewing starts. In the clamping device, a presser foot fixture (62) and a needle fixture (6) are vertically arranged on one end of an arm (1). The clamping device has the presser foot (63) which is connected to the presser foot fixture (62) by a press foot block (60) to enable vertical movement in the presser foot fixture (62). The clamping device is characterized in including: a drive generator (2) which is operated by the controller of a sewing machine; a pair of stoppers (70) which are installed on the press foot (63) and are arranged apart to place a needle (7) connected to the needle fixture (6) between the stoppers; and a holder (50) which has a holding lug (51) located between the stoppers and alternatively moves to the stoppers due to a connection with the drive generator (2).
