Abstract:
This invention relates to an anchoring device and more particularly but not exclusively, to a rock anchor for use in a mining environment, and which combines the functionality of a split set and an attachment anchor. The anchoring device includes a tubular body having a longitudinal slot provided therein, and an elongate anchoring element locatable inside the tubular body. The anchoring element is displaceable between a retracted position in which an end of the anchoring element is located inside the tubular body, and a protruding position, in which at least part of the elongate element protrudes from the tubular element.
Abstract:
An apparatus for protecting cables, service lines and the like in the form of a chain link (10) defines a channel having an end wall and flexible side walls for receiving at least one service line. Engaging formations (62, 64) are defined on free ends of the side walls and a second end wall plate (14) defining engaging formations adapted to engage with the engaging formations of the side walls are provided. Engagement between engaging formations is enabled by flexing of the side walls to securely engage the second end wall between the side arms thus preventing movement of the second end wall relative to the side walls absent flexure of the side walls. At least one and preferably both of the end walls is provided with pivotal formations to enable the chain link to pivotally connected to a similar link to form a chain. As no springs, clips, dowels or the like are required to load the second end wall plate to the chain link, the link itself may comprise only two parts, namely the channel and the second end wall plate (apart from the bolts joining the links together). Further, the fact that both of the side arms are flexible and that the second end wall plate is separable from each side arm, makes removal of the second end wall plate straightforward and simple regardless of the orientation of the chain link.
Abstract:
A cable support hook of a general "J" shape with a rear leg, a front leg and a web joining the legs. A platform at the top of the rear leg extends parallel to the web. Slides at the top of the platform of a hook below may be received in rails at the bottom of the web of a hook above and the hook below is slid rearwardly along the guidance provided by the slides and the rails to stack the hook below beneath the hook above. No additional fastenings between the hooks are required.
Abstract:
A corrosion inhibiting liner (16) for a pipe support (10) includes a flexible mat (18) containing spaced-apart slots (36); and a cylindrically-curved buffer (20) in tight engagement with the mat (18) in each slot (36), wherein the cylindrically-curved buffer (20) is made of a non-metallic, non-elastomer material that can withstand compressive strength of at least 8,000 psi, and has a friction coefficient less than 0.35. The slots (36) are dove-tail slots, and the greatest thickness of the mat (18) combined with a buffer (20) is less than three-fourths of an inch. The length of each buffer (20) is substantially the same, and is within the range of 1.5 inch to 24 inches.

Abstract:
A cable hook includes attachment means with a substantially base having a plantar bottom surface. The hook portion extends upwardly from the base (17) and includes upper and lower jaws (21, 23) with a lateral opening that is substantially circular. A single, laterally-extending notch (20) is located on the inside surface of the upper jaw proximate a frontal opening (22) between the jaws. Orientation marks (12) are included on the bottom surface of the base (17). Panel attachment means (18) are preferably deformer undercut grooves (16) for receiving the cold flow of metal from a metal panel (19) attached thereby. The hook (10) may be used to secure cables, a spring, a rod, tubing, or shaft.
Abstract:
A seismic wire cable and bracket assembly (29) for supporting suspended utilities such as plumbing pipe, electrical conduit and fixtures, communication lines, ceiling grid systems as well as trapeze racks (55) that carry apparatus for various services is described. The wire cable and bracket assembly utilizes a rod capture bracket (35) at one end and an anchor bracket (31) or similar connection at the other end with the cable (41) permanently or adjustably attached and adjustably attached by one or more u-clamps (45) to the rod capture bracket. In situations where no adjustment to the cable will be required and for lighter duty, the rod capture bracket and anchor bracket are permanently attached to opposite ends of a pre-tied wire (49).
Abstract:
A support bracket for use in supporting overhead cables in mines comprising a post (1) having a first end (11) and a second end (12) with means (2) whereby it can be secured to a support. The second end (12) has limbs (15, 16) extending from either side of the second end (12) which constitute support arms (4) of the bracket to support a cable or hose (5). The support arms (4) being movable from a cable support position to a cable release position when the cable (5) is subjected to a load in excess of a predetermined level and to return said arms (4) to a cable support position when said excess load has been removed. In a modification the support bracket is formed of a "J" shaped member having a long limb (27) and short limb (28) connected by a cross member (29). The long limb (27) having a hook member (37) pivotally secured to the free end of the long limb (27), a horizontal roller (41) being rotatably supported between the long limb (27) and the short limb (28) and a truncated cone shaped roller (45) being supported from the free end of the short limb (28). The bracket being movable from a cable support position to a cable release position when the cable is subjected to a load in excess of a predetermined level and to return the bracket to a cable support position when the excess load is removed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a support hook (3.030) having an open receiving Portion (3.032), and an attachment segment or portion (3.016), wherein the attachment segment or portion (3.016) includes one or more lugs (3.036) adapted to engage a channel or recess of a support member (1.002), the attachment segment or portion (3.016) including a through hole (4.042).
Abstract:
What is disclosed is an apparatus that provides connection points on a piping system to facilitate motion restraint using external motion-restraining systems. The apparatus is a type of plug (or cap) that engages into (or onto) a piping opening by threaded engagement, or by circumferentially grooved pipe coupling. The load-attachment connectors disclosed are particularly adapted for securing connection elements used with seismic sway brace and restraint between a fluid pipe line or pipe system and a fixed structure, to anchor that system or pipeline to the structure. The load-attachment connector has at least three alternatives available for the connection to useful external attachments: a flat tab (with bore hole); a tapped hole; and a threaded stud.
