    摘要: The problem arises of how to control a plurality of hydraulic pumps to achieve desired performance criteria, such as reduced wear and/or power consumption. The hydraulic pumps are operated in a hydraulic system for delivering hydraulic fluid to a hydraulic motor in a cryogenic pumping apparatus in an engine system fuelled with a gaseous fuel. A controller is operatively connected with the plurality of hydraulic pumps and is programmed to periodically determine a priority for each hydraulic pump as a function of predetermined criteria such as respective cumulative pumping cycles. Higher priority hydraulic pumps are operated before lower priority hydraulic pumps, that is in descending order of priority, to supply hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic motor. Hydraulic pumps are selected to operate according to the desired performance criteria.

    摘要: A submersible power plant (10) comprises a submersible enclosure (12) having at least one intake valve (16) for admitting water at high pressure from the surrounding sea into and air space in the enclosure. An air shaft from the air space (96) is in communication with the atmosphere for maintaining the air space at approximately one atmosphere. A pump for evacuating water collected in the enclosure includes a buoy (62) responsive to ocean swells. A piston haft (58) connected to the buoy reciprocates in the center bore (60) of a vertical column (52) extending upward from the bottom of the enclosure. As the piston shaft rises inflow valves (72) admit water in the enclosure into a valve housing (70) in communication with the center bore. As the piston shaft falls water is discharged from the valve housing into the sea through a discharge valve (80) in the bottom of the enclosure.

    摘要: A fluid power unit (100) has a cylinder (120) in a housing (105), a piston (130) slidable in the cylinder (120) and dividing the cylinder (120) into a retract side(270) and an extend side (300), and a two-position control valve (110). The control valve (110) has a spool (115) and first (280) and second (290) pilots. The position of the spool (115) is responsive to the first (280) and second (290) pilots. There is a retract poppet valve (220) in the retract side (270) of the cylinder (120), and an extend poppet valve (230) in the extend side (300). The retract (220) and extend (230) poppet valves are biased to a closed position. The retract poppet valve (220) is in a fluid path between the retract side (270) and the control valve (110); the extend poppet valve (230) is in a fluid path between the extend side (300) and the control valve (110). The alternate movement of the piston (130) in the cylinder alternately opens and closes the poppet valves (220, 230). The circuit connects the poppet valves (220, 230) to the pilots (280, 290) and alternately applies and releases pressure to the pilots (280, 290), causing the spool (115) of the control valve (110) to shift and apply inlet pressure to the piston (130) on alternate sides. Thus the piston (130) oscillates as long as inlet pressure is applied. All the fluid paths and the poppet valves (220, 230) are fluidly sealed inside the housing, so no gas is vented to the atmosphere.

    摘要: A rodless pump is disclosed which is connected to a pressure source via a conduit. In a common oilfield application the pump would be connected to the bottom of a tubing string within the reservoir fluid to be produced. A pressure source such as a hydraulic pump would be connected at the surface to the tubing string so as to selectively apply pressure via fluid in the conduit to the pump, raising the plunger assembly in the pump drawing reservoir fluid into the pump. When pressure via the surface pressure source is released, a gas source in the pump urges the plunger assembly downward in the pump urging the reservoir fluid in the pump into the tubing and to the surface. Preferably, the pump includes dampening mechanisms at both the top and bottom of the plungers stroke so as to reduce metal to metal impact within the pump. This dampening mechanism may include but is not limited to elastomer barriers, springs, and other dampening mechanisms such as discussed further below.
