    Abstract: An assembly which comprises a nut (20), a bolt (2) and a clip device (30) for securing the nut (20) in position on the bolt (2) is described. The nut (20) includes six equidistantly spaced apart axially extending grooves which are cut across its internal threads. The bolt (2) includes two diametrically arranged axially extending grooves (8) which are cut across the threaded region of its shank. The grooves in the nut and bolt are arranged to be axially aligned when the nut is threaded on the bolt. The clip (30) includes two spaced apart substantially straight leg portions (32) which may be positiond in aligned grooves in the nut and bolt. When so positioned, a transverse portion (38) of the clip device abuts an outerfacing surface of the nut and the joining portion (42) of the clip is urged, as a consequence of the resilience of the clip, into a position in which it nestles beneath bevelled edges (52) of the nut. When so disposed, the nut cannot work itself loose from its position on the bolt, unless the joining portion (42) is urged out of its position underneath the bevelled edges (52). Thus, the clip device (30) serves to secure the nut in position on the bolt.
