Abstract:
A direct vent fireplace installation assembly is provided that includes a furniture unit having an enlarged receptacle well above the ground, and a direct vent fireplace unit positioned in the receptacle of the furniture unit. The fireplace unit has a firebox contained in an outer housing, a burner assembly in the firebox, and a contoured surround, surrounding the burner positioned in and spaced apart from walls of the firebox. A chimney is coupled to the firebox. In one embodiment, the fireplace unit is mounted in a receptacle in a wall structure positioned above the floor, at approximately eye level. There may be a heat exchange passageway between the outer housing and the firebox, and a blower for circulating air therethrough.
Abstract:
A surround (1) for a fire (FF) comprises a body (2) fabricated at least in part from a relatively low density material (4) to which is secured a relatively high density fascia material (5).
Abstract:
A fireplace surround structure is disclosed. The fireplace surround structure includes a mantel portion, a first vertical leg portion and a second vertical leg portion. The first leg portion and the second leg portion extend downward from the mantel portion at opposite ends to form a unitary fireplace surround structure. Each leg portion has a skeletal bar frame with a plurality of bar portions defining a three sided generally rectangular structure. Each of the sides has a lightweight non-combustible board portion attached on the exterior of the frame. The fireplace surround structure is open to one side and mountable on a wall surface. Each board portion is cast from a mix of Portland cement, silica, and cellulose fibers, which are combined and sintered into a flat board structure.
Abstract:
Device (1) for mounting a fireplace (2) against a wall (3) and for installing a casing (5) around this fireplace (2) and cupboards (6) or shelves (7) adjacent to this casing (5), whereby the device contains (1) metal elements (9) for a metal structure (11) which, at minimum, surrounds the fireplace (2) to be installed and which is suspended from the wall (3) and non- metal (10) elements containing, at minimum, heat insulating panels (34) intended to form the inside (35) of the casing (5) and which are suspended directly from the metal structure (11).
Abstract:
A forced airflow gasifier stove (100) for indoor use is provided which includes a combustion chamber (144) mounted within a housing (102) which cooperates with a blower (108, 110) for directing air upwards (118) through the housing (102). The combustion chamber (144) has a primary air inlet zone (166) near an operatively lower end thereof (164) and an open upper end (168). A cap assembly (140) connects to the open upper end of the combustion chamber (142) and has a plurality of apertures or slots (156) therein which, in an assembled condition of the forced airflow gasifier stove (100), are partially occluded by moving the combustion chamber (144) relative to the cap assembly (140) so as to form an adjustable secondary air inlet zone (176, 156) near the upper end (142) of the combustion chamber (144).
Abstract:
A fire comprising a housing providing support for a fire effect area on which fire effects may be generated or simulated is described. A light well is arranged relative to the fire effect area and is usefully employed to generate a lighting effect secondary to that of the fire effect area.
Abstract:
A decorative mantel article for placement above and/or around a fireplace that is lightweight for facilitation of transport and placement is provided. Additionally, the decorative mantel exhibits a noncombustible quality heretofore undeveloped within the mantel industry, particularly for such articles that are provided with decorative aesthetic designs. Such a lightweight article is provided with all noncombustible components with dimensionally stable structural benefits for long-term mounting and usage, thereby providing a sufficiently strong mantel with a low overall weight measurement. A mounting component is further encompassed herein, as well.
Abstract:
An electric fire configured to simulate fire effects is described. The fire includes a housing having a front facade defining an interior portion of the fire, the fire including a light source configured to generate lighting to effect the simulated fire effects which are then visible within the housing. The fire additionally includes perimeter lighting configured to generate a perimeter lighting effect around at least a portion of the perimeter of the fire housing so as to cast a glow around the housing.
Abstract:
A method of producing a strip of laminate stone material, the method including the steps of slicing a plurality of thin sheets of stone, bonding the sheets to form a laminate structure, and cutting the laminate structure end-on to produce the strip of laminate stone material.
Abstract:
A fire surround for use with a substantially enclosed gas fire unit (34) comprises an outer fascia (12) securable, in use, to a chimney breast around a flue opening in the chimney breast, the outer fascia having an opening therein for receiving the gas fire unit (34), and an inner fascia (22) securable, in use, to the outer fascia (12) so as to entrap an out-turned flange (40) of the gas fire unit (34) between the inner and outer fascias. The inner fascia (22) comprises a pair of side columns (26) bridged by a top portion (28), and at least one of the side columns (26) is formed as a channel member for receiving a slide control for operating the gas fire unit (34). The invention also provides a method for the securing such a fire surround to a chimney breast so as to secure in place the gas fire unit (34).
