Abstract:
A method of operating a security system is disclosed as including sensors for detecting occurrence of at least one security-related event, e.g. motion, and alarm devices, in which the sensors and alarm devices are operatively associated with each other, e.g. by being connected with each other via a digital communication backbone (124), including the steps of assigning a threat level to each security-related event; determining the current threat level of the system; comparing the current threat level of the system with a predetermined threshold threat level; causing the alarm devices to produce alarm signals when the current threat level reaches or exceeds the threshold threat level.
Abstract:
A device and method for indicating a change of angle, the device (2) including a detector for detecting tiny changes of angle of a surface (1) on which it is mounted, mechanical means for amplifying detected changes, and means for providing an indication of detected changes above a pre-set threshold. The indication may be a warning signal or an indication of the quantity of change of angle.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a systematic arrangement of units for the handling and transmission of alarms. Alarm events are detected in local alarm systems. The appertaining alarm information can be transmitted, via a considerable number of different communication alternatives, to central monitoring stations that have the task of monitoring and updating the local alarm systems. The systematic arrangement of units disposes over a considerable number of various means for ensuring both the safe transmission of alarm messages and the delivery of said messages to the intended recipient.

Abstract:
A video surveillance system uses rule-based reasoning and multiple-hypothesis scoring to detect predefined behaviors based on movement through zone patterns. Trajectory hypothesis spawning allows for trajectory splitting and/or merging and includes local pruning to managed hypothesis growth. Hypotheses (126) are scored based on a number of criteria, illustratively including at least one non-spatial parameter. Connection probabilities (124) computed during the hypothesis spawning process are based on a number of criteria, illustratively including object size. Object detection and probability scoring is illustratively based on object class.
Abstract:
This invention provides for a security device (10) which includes a transmitter (12) for transmitting a signal to a remote receiver in communication with an alarm, and a manual switch (14) arranged in communication with the transmitter (12). The switch (14) facilitates the activation of the transmitter (12). The device (10) also includes an elongate body shaped and dimensioned to simulate a writing implement so that, when the transmitter (12) is activated, the device (10) enables the inconspicuous activation of the alarm.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are described for providing an activation signal based on a received radio frequency (RF) signal. The apparatus includes an RF receiver configured to admit a received RF signal in a given frequency band and a converter configured to convert the admitted RF signal to a proportional signal. The apparatus also includes a low power comparator that has a first and second input and an output. A biasing and offset compensation circuit is configured to bias the proportional signal higher by an offset midrange voltage and bias the second input to an offset compensated voltage based on an offset between the inputs of the comparator. The comparator is configured to receive the biased proportional signal at the first input and produce the activation signal at the output when a voltage difference between the biased proportional signal and the offset compensated voltage exceeds a comparison voltage threshold.

A warning device for attachment to packaging of a product (12) which has an expiration date, the device including timer means (28) for counting passage of a pre-set period of time, according to a timing program tailored to the product, to the expiration date, and for providing a signal at the expiration date; an indicator (20) arranged to receive the signal and to provide an indication to differentiate a pre-expiration date period from a post-expiration date period; and a switch coupled to the packaging and arranged to activate the indicator when a person attempts to use the product.
Abstract:
The signals from an alarm, comprising at least one sensor (2, 3, 4), for monitoring characteristic hazard values and an analytical electronic unit (1), connected to the at least one sensor (2, 3, 4), are compared with pre-set parameters. Furthermore, the signals are analysed for repeated or regular occurrence and repeated, or regularly occurring alarm signals are classed as error signals. The classification of signals as error signals gives rise to a corresponding adjustment of the parameter. When an error signal arises, before the parameter is adjusted, the validity of the signal analysis for the at least one sensor (2, 3, 4) is checked and the parameter adjustment is carried out, depending upon the result of said validity check. An alarm with the means for carrying out said method comprises at least one sensor (2, 3, 4), for a characteristic hazard value and an electronic analysis unit (1), containing a microprocessor (6), for the evaluation and analysis of the signal from the at least one sensor (2, 3, 4). The microprocessor (6) has a software programme with an adaptive algorithm based on multiple solutions for the analysis of the signals from the at least one sensor (2, 3, 4).
