    摘要: A high pressure gas discharge lamp, including: an arc tube (110) comprising an arrangement of electrodes (104, 109a, 109b) and containing mercury, wherein, in order to generate radiation, the electrodes (104, 109a, 109b) are arranged to sustain an electric arc to vaporise the mercury (111) within the arc tube (110), said arc tube being arranged to generate radiation in at least the UV-C, UV-B, UV-A and visible optical ranges; and an optical filter (114) that is optically opaque to UV-C radiation and optically transparent to UV-B, UV-A and visible radiation, wherein the optical filter (114) is arranged to block UV-C radiation emitted from the arc tube (110) and allow transmission of UV-B, UV-A and visible radiation emitted from the arc tube (110). A luminaire (450; 750) is also disclosed.

    摘要: Embodiments provide a ceramic metal halide (CMH) lamp and methods for making the same that provide or achieve, during lamp operation, a correlated color temperature (CCT) greater than 5000 K, a color rendering index (CRI) of 85 or greater, a lumen maintenance percentage (LM%) greater than 90%, a life time of at least 15,000 hours, and a power factor of at least 85%. In a specific embodiment, this is obtained by a ionizable fill comprising a buffer gas, optionally mercury, and metal halides including Prl3, Mnl2, Csl, Cal2, and others, wherein the halides are provided in an amount selected from the following ranges: 16-34 mole % Prl3, 23-25 mole % Csl, 4-17 mole% Mnl2, and Cal2 30-50 mole %.

    摘要: A discharge lamp and a headlamp with a discharge lamp are described. The discharge lamp10 includes a discharge vessel16 with electrodes 20 for generating an electrical arc. The discharge vessel includes a filling with a rare gas and metal halides. In order to avoid inhomogeneities from scattering at a salt pool 22 within the discharge vessel, the lamp further comprises a diffusing portion 24 arranged such that at least a portion of light emitted below a horizontal is diffused, and that light emitted above the horizontal is not diffused. A headlamp comprises a reflector 32 with an upper reflector portion 36 reflecting light emitted above a horizontal and a lower reflector portion 38 reflecting light emitted below. The diffusing portion 24 is arranged such that at least a portion of light reflected at the lower reflector portion 38 is diffused, and that light reflected at the upper reflector portion 36 is not diffused.

    摘要: The present disclosure describes metal halide lamps having a discharge vessel, a discharge space, and at least one electrode extending into the discharge vessel in a sealed fashion so as to be in contact with the discharge space. A fill gas, at least one fill material comprising a first metal halide, and optionally at least one volatile material having a higher vapor pressure than the first halide are present in the discharge space. In one aspect, the electrode tip has a current rating of about P750V, where P is the lamp power. In some cases, the lamps can exhibit at least one of reduced run-up time, increased initial light output, and long life, while remaining useful for general lighting applications. Also described are methods for operating such metal halide lamps.

    摘要: A reduced wattage gas discharge lamp and method of making same. The gas discharge lamp includes a light transmissive envelope with an inner surface, having a light scattering reflective layer disposed thereon. A phosphor layer is coated on an inner surface of the light scattering reflective layer. A discharge-sustaining gaseous mixture is retained inside the light-transmissive envelope. The discharge-sustaining gaseous mixture includes at least 88% argon, by volume, at a low pressure. An electrode is located within the light-transmissive envelope. The electrode is capable of providing an electric discharge to trigger a reaction within the light-transmissive envelope to cause the lamp to emit light. The remainder of the discharge-sustaining gaseous mixture is substantially neon, at a low pressure. The low pressure is about 3.6 Torr.
