Abstract: Techniques are described for communications in an L2 virtual network. In an example, the L2 virtual network includes a plurality of L2 compute instances hosted on a set of host machines and a plurality of L2 virtual network interfaces and L2 virtual switches hosted on a set of network virtualization devices. An L2 virtual network interface emulates an L2 port of the L2 virtual network. Span port information applicable to the L2 port is sent to a network virtualization device that hosts the L2 virtual network interface.

Abstract: A network switch and associated method of operation for establishing a low latency transmission path through the network which bypasses the packet queue and scheduler of the switch fabric. The network switch transmits each of a plurality of data packets to the identified destination egress port over the low latency transmission if the data packet is identified to be transmitted over the low latency transmission path from the ingress port to the destination egress port, and transmits the data packet to the destination egress port through the packet queue and scheduler if the data packet is not identified to be transmitted over the low latency transmission path from the ingress port to the destination egress ports.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to queue management in a network. In particular, the disclosure proposes a network device being configured to: maintain a set of two or more queues; receive one or more data frames; inspect each of the one or more data frames and determine at least one of one or more functionality operations and a queueing operation based on the inspected data frame; and perform the determined at least one of the functionality operations and the queueing operation on the data frame, based on a status of the two or more queues and the one or more inspected data frames. This disclosure proposes a hardware architecture that allows performing some of the TSN functionalities without any software intervention.
