The essential property descriptor indicates a session-based description (SBD) file and includes a set of keys for a part of a uniform resource locator (URL) that is used for receiving the media data. The processing circuitry determines a respective value for each of the set of keys based on whether the respective value is included in the SBD file and modifies the URL based on the set of keys and the determined values.

    摘要: There is provided a method for estimating play out resolution of a video delivered to a client device by an encrypted video stream communicated over a network. The method selects a current chunk of the encrypted video stream comprising data packets expected to carry video data of the same level of playout resolution and determines values for a predetermined set of features indicative of conditions in the network. By accessing a pregenerated model, a corresponding set of state transition probabilities is obtained, defining a Markov chain whose states comprise the different levels of resolution. The determined state transition probabilities are then used to calculate, from a first probability distribution arising from a first or previous step in the Markov chain, a second probability distribution for the plurality of states of the Markov chain expected to result from the indicated network conditions.

    摘要: Described is a method of managing a network for delivering content in a hybrid unicast/multicast network, where content is requested by clients over unicast, but all or some of the content is delivered in part over multicast. Typically, a client requests content (in the form of segments) via a first proxy. The segments are delivered to the first proxy over multicast from a second proxy, before onward transmission to the requesting client over unicast. The segments are also cached at the first proxy, and can be transmitted over unicast to other clients requesting those segments. However, problems can arise if cached segments are transmitted to clients too quickly. In one solution, the first proxy measures the multicast rate of delivery of segments from the second proxy over multicast, and limits the transmission rate of those segments over unicast to requesting clients to no greater than the measured multicast delivery rate.

These encoded video frames are sent (54) in bursts of singular encoded video frames, over the IP network to the server. The server forwards (58) to a decoder, said each encoded video frame at a moment according to the indication of the end of said each encoded video frame,whereby each encoded video frame, is forwarded to the decoder as soon as the end of each encoded video frame has been received by the server.
