Abstract: A loudspeaker system includes a subwoofer. The subwoofer includes a housing having a plurality of walls which together define an acoustic cavity. The plurality of walls includes a front wall, a rear wall, a top wall, a bottom wall, and a plurality of sidewalls extending between the top and bottom walls and between the front and rear walls. A first transducer mounted to the front wall of the housing. The first transducer includes a diaphragm having a major axis and a minor axis. The major axis has a fist end proximate the bottom wall and an opposite, second end proximate the top wall, such that the major axis is arranged vertical, relative to ground when the subwoofer is rested on its bottom wall. The top wall has a handle such that the loudspeaker can be carried with the major axis arranged vertical to ground.

Abstract: A networked speaker device includes a sealed housing and an Ethernet port in the housing for receiving power and audio data from a network router via an Ethernet cable. A power supply subsystem in the housing manages the power received at the Ethernet port. A microprocessor subsystem, powered by the power supply subsystem, receives and processes the audio data to generate output audio signals. A digital audio amplifier, powered by the power supply subsystem, amplifies the output audio signals to drive a speaker driver to render an audio output. The device also includes at least one heater resistor in the housing powered by the power supply subsystem. The at least one heater resistor is controlled by the microprocessor subsystem to automatically heat the interior of the housing when temperature inside the housing falls below a given temperature.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a second-order gradient loudspeaker system comprising two first-order gradient loudspeaker systems (1, 2) with loudspeaker (LS1, LS2) arranged at a distance d from one another, said two first-order gradient loudspeaker systems (1, 2) are located substantially one behind the other and a cavity of width h is present therebetween, the cavity has a volume with an acoustic capacity CK. The first-order gradient loudspeaker systems (1, 2) according to the invention are of passive design, that is, each of said systems (1, 2) is formed as an acoustic network consisting of passive acoustic elements having at least one of a passive acoustic mass (M), acoustic resistance (R) and acoustic capacity (C). Said acoustic network comprises at least one phase rotating member capable of passive gradient generation, wherein said first-order gradient loudspeaker systems (1, 2) are driven by modified audio frequency electrical signals directly or through at least one element selected from the group consisting of all-pass filters (APF), low-pass filters (LPF) and delay circuits (τ) in such a way that the rear first-order gradient loudspeaker system (2) is in reversed phase compared to the front first-order gradient loudspeaker (1), and the driving electrical signal of the rear system (2) is delayed by a total delay time τ compared to the driving electrical signal of the front system (1), the total delay time τ is given by Formula (I) wherein c is the sound propagation velocity in air at a given temperature; and α is a factor that defines the required type of the polar pattern of the second-order gradient loudspeaker system within a range extending from cardioid to „8"-shaped, or bidirectional.

Abstract: A sound projection apparatus for projecting sound into a sound receiving space such as a room or auditorium comprises a bass unit having a housing which includes at least one cavity and at least one bass drive unit enclosed within at least one cavity and an outlet port between the at least one cavity through the housing to the sound receiving space so that sounds generated by the bass drive unit in the at least one cavity can be projected into the sound receiving space. The sound projection apparatus further comprises a pod unit having a housing which forms a cavity and a plurality of drive units which are mounted within the cavity, the housing including a sound projecting face having an orifice for each of the plurality of drive units. A cone of each of the drive units is mounted outwardly in one of the orifices. A suspension support arm is attached to the bass unit and extends from the bass unit where in use the pod unit is suspended in a vertical plane with respect to the bass unit from the suspension support arm. An improvement in high fidelity sound reproduction can be provided by the sound projection apparatus by the bass unit and the suspension support arm which is attached to the bass unit so that a pod unit can be suspended above the bass unit. The suspension support arm is arranged to reduce vibrations or sound from travelling from the bass unit to the pod unit and in combination with a suspension arrangement of the pod unit from the suspension support arm reduces sound contamination from the bass unit into the pod unit. Correspondingly, sound and vibrations reproduced by the pod unit does not interfere with the bass unit.
