Abstract:
A method in a mobility management node of controlling paging of a first terminal device, the method comprising: sending (701) a paging request message relating to the first terminal device to a set of access network nodes; if the paging request message is unsuccessful, determining (702) whether the paging request message should be resent to one or more of the set of access network nodes, wherein the determining is based on: (a) historical data relating to previous paging request messages, and (b) one or both of (i) the first terminal device, and (ii) the access network nodes in the set of access network nodes; and if it is determined to resend the paging request message, resending (703) the paging request message to the one or more access network nodes.
Abstract:
In case of an UE in an inactive state (RRC disconnected but Core Network connected), the Core Network cannot page the UE because this one is formally connected. The UE is therefore paged at RAN- level. In detail, the first Base Station that receives dowlink data or control signalling for the UE, pages the UE. If the UE does not reply, the first Base Station requests second Base Stations to page the UE. If not found the request is enlarged from teh seconde BS to further Base stations and so on until either the UE is found or a maximum number of hops is reached. The Base Stations trace then backwards the information that the UE has been paged until the first BS.
Abstract:
It is provided a wireless communication device adapted to employing a paging and/or tracking mode determined based on a motion state of the wireless communication device, a network entity adapted to determining a paging and/or tracking mode for the wireless communication device, and a method for paging and/or tracking a wireless communication device the wireless communication device being adapted to communicate with the network entity of a wireless communication network, and further adapted to evaluate, in the wireless communication device, a condition that indicates an in~motion or stationary state of the wireless communication device and transmit information for adapting a paging and/or tracking mode in the network, information indicating the in-motion or stationary state of the of the wireless communication device towards the communication network.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to methods, apparatus and systems for paging of a terminal. The disclosure provides a method for allocating a paging area for the terminal (130) in a cellular network comprising determining a coverage level for the terminal (130) in a cell in the cellular network, identifying a paging area corresponding to the determined coverage level for the terminal (130); and allocating the identified paging area to the terminal (130).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a communication node for a communication network. The communication node includes means for identifying that paging is required for a mobile communication device, means for obtaining information identifying at least one cell in which said mobile communication device has been located previously and for obtaining further information relating to at least one of movement of the mobile communication device between cells and a time when said mobile communication device was located in said at least one cell, means for defining a set comprising at least one cell in which to seek said mobile communication device, based on said information and said further information, and means for initiating transmission of a respective paging message for said mobile communication device in each cell of said set.
Abstract:
A method can be executed at a notifier of a communication system for the purpose of handling notifications, at least partly according to a notification scheme. The basis of the method is to provisioning for a differentiated distribution rate to be applied together with the notification scheme when distributing notifications which have been received from a notification source function and which are associated with the subscriber. The provisioning is based on user traffic statistics on traffic involving a registered subscriber, and which has been generated in the communication network, and where the statistics has been acquired from a statistics server and accumulated by the notifier.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing a location update based on mobility information indicating a velocity of a Mobile Station (MS), and a method and apparatus for using a timer for a location update in a wireless access system are disclosed. The MS transmits a deregistration request message requesting initiation of idle mode to a first Base Station (BS), receives a deregistration command message including paging group information from the first BS, the paging group information including a primary paging group Identifier (ID) and primary paging offset of a primary paging group allocated to the MS, and a secondary paging group ID and secondary paging offset of a secondary paging group allocated to the MS, and activates a paging group location update timer after moving from the primary paging group to the secondary paging group. The deregistration request message includes first mobility information indicating a velocity of the MS and the paging group information is set based on the first mobility information.
Abstract:
Methods to transmit and receive a paging message in a wireless communication system are provided. In a method to transmit a paging message, a Base Station (BS) transmits a paging message including identifier and location information of a userequipment (UE) to be paged to the UE and receives a paging response message from the UE in response to the paging message. In a method to receive a paging message, the UE switches from a dedicated frequency band for a specific service to a non-dedicated frequency band during a predetermined period or paging gap and checks whether or not a paging message has been received from the BS over the non-dedicated frequency band.
Abstract:
Described herein is methodologies for efficient utilization of backhaul resources of a network for delivering paging data to an access terminal (AT) without sacrificing delay performance. A location that buffers data for an AT can be adaptively changed based on factors such as the location of the AT, applications utilized by the AT, and a recent activity level of the AT. To facilitate this determination, an AT can be configured with one or more registration boundaries. An AT can be configured with a small registration radius such that if the AT does not move outside of the small registration radius, data can be delivered directly to a data attachment point for the AT. If the AT moves outside of the small registration radius, the registration radius can be switched to a large registration radius and the access gateway can instead locally buffer data for the AT.
