Abstract: An endoscope cleaning device (500) includes a base (550), a battery pack (540), and a pull tab (100). The base includes a cylindrical body (555) defining a canal (518). The battery pack includes a battery (545) and a heating mechanism (528) thermally coupled to the cylindrical body. The pull tab includes a body (102) and an annular seal (126) detachably coupled to the body. The annular seal is in registration with the canal of the cylindrical body. The pull tab is partially received within the battery pack to inhibit electrical communication between the battery and the heating mechanism. The body of the pull tab is removably supported with respect to the base and the battery pack such that when the pull tab is pulled by a user, the annular seal detaches from the body of the pull tab and remains with respect to the cylindrical body to form a fluid-tight seal against an endoscope (10).

Abstract: Provided is a process for the preparation of a silicone or fluorosilicone-coated solid substrate, which process comprises the following steps a) providing a solid substrate having at least one surface to be coated, b) bringing the surface to be coated in contact with a coating fluid comprising linear silicone or linear fluorosilicone molecules, and c) irradiating the coating fluid in contact with the surface by UV light to photo-dissociate a silicon-carbon bond in linear silicone or linear fluorosilicone molecules contained in the coating fluid, and allowing them to form a new covalent bond to the surface of the solid substrate, thus providing a solid substrate having at least one surface that carries a coating comprising a layer of silicone or fluorosilicone molecules covalently grafted to the surface, and further comprising silicone or fluorosilicone molecules adhering non- covalently to the layer of the grafted molecules. Moreover, coated solid substrates are provided, which are obtainable by the process in accordance with the invention.

Abstract: Cleaning devices disclosed herein provide, for example, an effective and reliable approach for cleaning an exposed surface of an imaging element (e.g., a lens) of an imaging device (e.g., an endoscope). Cleaning devices disclosed herein enable an imaging element to be cleaned while located within a concealed operation site (e.g., an in-vivo surgical site). To enhance imaging device compatibility, cleaning devices disclosed herein have integral therewith a seating adjustor that allows a user to selectively adjust the position of an imaging device seated thereon. Cleaning devices disclosed herein are thus able to accommodate imaging devices that would otherwise be incompatible due to a distance between the imaging element of the imaging device and a position of a cleaning member of the cleaning device being either too big or too small.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (10) for positioning a medical tool within a lumen. The system (10) comprises a positioning device (11) and a control system (12). The positioning device (11) comprises a cylindrical body (110), configured to receive the medical tool, and an actuator (120) configured to apply a force to an internal wall of the lumen to move the cylindrical body (110) in a radial direction within the lumen. The control system (12) is configured to: receive an input signal indicative of a target position of the cylindrical body (110), and provide an output signal to control the actuator (120) to move the cylindrical body (110) to adopt the target position. The system (10) may comprise a camera and utilise image recognition to identify a target location in an image captured by the camera to determine the target position of the cylindrical body (110). The system (10) may be configured such that the cylindrical body (110) is automatically moved to the target position. The system (10) may also be configured to compensate for unintended movement of the cylindrical body (110) away from the target position. The system (10) may be particularly applicable to positioning a needle within an ear canal to perform an intra tympanic injection.
