The invention further relates to a mattress for a patient support apparatus, such as a therapeutic mattress for an ICU bed.
Abstract:
A patient support system is provided for use on a litter of a patient support apparatus. The patient support system includes an expandable patient support and a control assembly connectable to the expandable patient support. The control assembly includes a user interface with a display and a controller configured to display a predetermined sequence of graphical animations on the display to graphically instruct a user to perform a plurality of tasks after the user selects a new width for the expandable patient support on the user interface.

A patient support apparatus, such as a bed, stretcher, cot, or the like, includes a frame, a support surface, a control, a controller, and a transceiver. The patient support apparatus employs one or more machine learning techniques to perform one or more of the following: automatically implement one or more user-preferred settings, automatically predict the occurrence of one or more events based on analyses of prior events, and/or automatically improve one or more algorithms based on analyses of additional sensor data. The machine learning techniques may be implemented onboard the patient support apparatus and/or may be implemented at a remote computer device (e.g. a server) that collates and analyzes data from multiple patient support apparatuses, and then sends the results of the analyses back to the patient support apparatuses.
Abstract:
A reconfigurable, foldable, and manually transportable infant radiant warmer. In a collapsed configuration, the warmer consumes a minimal amount of space and can be manually transported easily. In a deployed configuration, the warmer provides open access to an infant lying on a bed platform for receiving resuscitative therapy and warmth from a radiant heater disposed upon an adjacent mast. The reconfigurable infant radiant warmer includes mutually reconfigurable bed, mast, and suspension modules. The mast module and the suspension module may be selectively moved relative to the bed module to achieve the collapsed configuration.

Techniques and architectures are disclosed for power-adjustable furniture management systems and methods. The system includes a first power-adjustable furniture and a second power-adjustable furniture connected to an electrical source. The first power-adjustable furniture is communicatively coupled to a computing device. The computing device includes a processor, and a power management mode executable by the processor. The power management mode is configured to adjust the first power-adjustable furniture. The power management mode is further configured to prevent the first power-adjustable furniture from being adjusted while the second power-adjustable furniture is operated. The computing device is communicatively coupled to a server computer via the network.

A lift mechanism for a wheel assembly is disclosed. The lift mechanism includes a lever arm having a first axis of rotation, and a first torque transfer plate having a second axis of rotation coincident with the first axis of rotation. A lift block is engagable by the first torque transfer plate and has a first angularly disposed surface and a resting surface adjacent to the first angularly disposed surface. The lift mechanism is configured such that rotation of the lever arm causes the first torque transfer plate to rotate into engagement with the lift block, thereby causing linear motion of the lift block. The wheel assembly is raised and lowered by contact between a portion of the wheel assembly and the first angularly disposed surface of the lift block and held in a raised position when the portion of the wheel assembly is positioned with respect to the resting surface.

An articulating bed incorporates a support frame (10) with a head end, a foot end and having side frame members (31). A carriage (12) having a seat support (14) is carried by the frame, mounted with wheels (25) engaging the side frame members to translate from a first position through a range progressing toward the head end to a fully translated position. An upper body support (16) is rotatably connected to the carriage and carries a mattress support (15). At least one telescoping rotation strut (18) is attached at a first end and rotates through an axle pivotally attached to the side frame members. The telescoping rotation strut engages at a second end the upper body support. At least one fixed length rotation arm (20) is carried at a first end by a rotating tube (22) and pivotally attaches to the upper body support at a second end. The rotating tube is mounted on wheels (23) constrained in a track (24) and translates laterally in the track to contact a track end proximate the head end of the frame at a termination of a first range of motion. The telescoping strut approaches a vertical orientation and transfers reaction forces resulting from translation of the carriage to the fixed length rotation arm, whereupon the telescoping rotations struts extend.
Abstract:
There is provided a patient support that may be adjustable in height, width, length or a combination thereof. The patient support may be useable with normal sized patients or with bariatric patients. The patient support has a variety of features to enhance operability and/or functionality, including a width adjustable caster frame, width adjustable deck portions, a width adjustable headboard and an extendible foot board to provide extra length. An enhanced lift mechanism can accommodate bariatric patients and alternative functionality in achieving deck positions improves patient comfort. Various parts of the patient support including deck panels and the footboard may be removed and replaced with ease without complicated connectors.
