A brake assembly (1) for a hand-held power-driven cutting device (2) is provided comprising a movably arranged lever (14), at least being movable between a first- and a second position, a brake member (16), and a brake element (20) connected to or forming one unit with a rotatable part (22) of a transmission of the cutting device (2), wherein the brake member (16) is movable between a non-activated position and an activated position, and wherein the brake member (16) is arranged to engage with the brake element (20) in the activated position to prevent rotation of the rotatable part (22). This invention relates to a motor chain saw with a chain brake arrangement comprising a kick brake and a coasting brake. These brakes are via a link arm mechanism acting on a brake lever (15) that is pivotally arranged on a shaft (16) directly or indirectly fixed to a chain saw base structure (14). The brake lever is connected to a brake band (13) acting on a brake drum which is drivingly connected with the outlet shaft (11) of the motor. The link arm mechanism is connected to a slider (20) that is movable with respect to said base structure (14).

A plate-joinery system includes a chain-saw plate joiner where the cutting mechanism includes a cutting-chain driven about a saw-bar. The cutting mechanism of the chain-saw plate joiner may be advanced on rails to one of a set of predermined depths. The increased recess depth allowed by the chain-saw and the resultant increase in both glueable surface area and mechanical engagement permit high-strength right-angle joints to be made with the speed of conventional plate-joinery. Plate-joints of more conventional proportion may also be made. The plate joinery system also includes specialty plate configurations and compatible fasteners that permit many joints to be rapidly assembled without resort to either manual glue application or external clamps. A series of high-precision, low-friction cutting devices suitable for general introduction is also described.

A guard as disclosed of use with a woodworking tool such as a jointer having a worktable (14), a cutter head and a guide fence (16) for guiding a workpiece through the jointer. The guard (10) is pivotally mounted to the table (14) and is biased toward the guide fence such that it covers the cutter head when a workpiece is not present. The guard includes a body portion (22) and flexible fingers (74), formed integrally with and extending from the body portion toward the guide fence. The flexible fingers act as a featherboard during a jointing operation and the pivotal movement of the guard may be limited such that the fingers (14) engage a workpiece as it is fed through the jointer to thereby apply a biasing force against the workpiece toward the guide fence. The fingers (74) further act to resist movement of the workpiece in a direction opposite to the feed direction during a kickback situation and thereby provide greater control over the workpiece.

Die Erfindung betrifft Winkelanschläge und Ausrichthilfen, insbesondere für den Handwerksbereich. Bisher können Winkelanschläge nicht auf einfache Weise mit Distanzmessgeräten genutzt werden, da ihr Anlegepunkt und damit der Messreferenzpunkt für jeden einstellbaren Winkel ein anderer ist. Bei einem erfindungsgemäßen Winkelanschlag ist das Schwenkgelenk so konstruiert, dass seine Schwenkachse (12) in der Anlegeebene seines Anschlagschenkels (10) liegt, ohne das Anlegen an Werkstücke (13) zu beeinträchtigen und ein, für jeden einstellbaren Winkel, gleichbleibender Anlegepunkt (23) entsteht. Dadurch kann der Winkelanschlag mit einem nur einmal einzustellenden Distanzmessgeräte (21) unabhängig vom eingestellten Winkel an Werkstücken (13) positioniert werden. Darüber hinaus kann ein solcher Winkelanschlag von einzeln arbeitenden Personen als Ausrichthilfe für an seiner Zunge (11) anbringbare Schienen genutzt werden, da es möglich ist, den Winkelanschlag an einer Markierung anzulegen, den Anschlagschenkel dort zu befestigen und dann die Schiene an eine weitere Markierung zu verschwenken.
